...“The child is father to the man” –HORACE MANN The fact that a person may have a weakness may build up much insecurity to start breeding wickedness because they are missing that strength inside of them. It may break them or make them feel angry towards a person that shows success in life. Especially, if it’s in the area, in which the person, can’t strengthen their weakness. In my teaching, this semester with my internship I had a fire brigade silent an alarm without doing the proper procedures in which she should had made a perimeter check of the building. Before she had acknowledged the alarm before making sure, there was any problem. I had to approach her about this situation due to the fact I’m the fire safety director of the building. Her excuse was that she didn’t understand the training, but she knew that button would be silent the system so that the fire department wouldn’t come. If the fire department had come on the premises, she would have to explain to them the cause in which she had little knowledge of what to do. So with that said, you build a child strong he will be good. I wasn’t producing enough knowledge to her to do well. Her wickedness came from weakness in not knowing proper procedures in which she could think of cost someone their life. I truly believe this quote a lot of bad things happen in life because of people weakness. If we could find a way to build our children to be strong and not to have a bad soul in their body, they would be good. Someone could...

...several skill tests than others. How to measure the best wide receiver? Why athletic trainer and coach should only force a few abilities. There have a example to explain this opinion, When athletic trainer and coach try to find a Quarterback, they may deserve to spend more time to analysis the data on a Quarterback’s strongpoint in height and arm strength when he is more likely to be evaluated on the ability to throw the ball. Generally speaking, for a wide receiver, there have five main ideas, athletic trainer and coach need to consider, 40-yard dash, Vertical jump, Height, Bench and Cone drill. Getting through those five skill tests, athletic trainer and coach could identify who is the best one can fit specifically position in their team from the draft combine....

In order to get a brief idea of the possible results, a literature review of some of the previous papers on similar topics was done. We designed our experiment based on CCRD, but due to time constraints and the shortage of raw material we had to use the full factorial method to vary parameters of our experiments. Introduction Polyvinyl chloride, commonly abbreviated PVC, is the third-most widely produced plastic after polyethylene and polypropylene. PVC is used in construction because it is more effective than traditional materials such as copper, iron or wood in pipe and profile applications. Its properties are often modified (it can be made softer and more flexible) by the...

...Technique I definitely consider technique a key component of football, the importance of the technique of tackling and passing is identified through achieving and retention of possession for sustained periods of time. The best passing teams dictate play, conserve energy, make the best of their resources and therefore score goals (Clarke) Hook and Hughes (2001) found that successful teams utilised longer possessions than unsuccessful teams in Euro 2000 Jones et al. (2004) showed that successful teams in the English Premier league typically had longer possessions than unsuccessful teams. Incorrect passing technique creates turnovers in possession allows the other team to attack and creates pressure on the team. Decision making The importance of decision making is highlighted by (McGreskin) the thing that separates the best from the rest, is that the best players consistently make better decisions while under pressure. Decision making is quite simply, the process to find the optimum pass, whether that be a 40 yard switch of play to attack from the other side (where the space is) or passing the ball into the strikers feet to play a one-two or allow him to turn and run at the oppositions defence, decision making is a complex process (the best players know what they are going to do before) the process involved highlighting the number of players where the pass is intended for, both the opposition and your own team, as well as the obstacles in the way of the pass, the amount of...

...American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Pipelines Conference 2005, Houston, TX Longitudinal Mechanics of Buried Thermoplastic Pipe: Analysis of PVC Pipes of Various Joint Types Shah Rahman1, Reynold K. Watkins2 ABSTRACT The analysis of longitudinal deformations compared to performance limits of deformation in buried pipes is referred to as longitudinal mechanics. Principal causes of longitudinal stress and strain within a pipe system include changes in temperature, internal pressure or vacuum, and beam bending. The widespread use of thermoplastic pipes, namely polyvinyl chloride (PVC), in municipal applications throughout North America in the past four decades has made it necessary to re-visit the topic of longitudinal mechanics for pipes that incorporate various types of joining systems. Typical North American PVC pipe joints are either bell-and-spigot gasket-joint or welded (heat-fused Fusible PVC and solvent-cement joints). Analysis herein focuses on the three main causes of longitudinal stresses and strains in bell-and-spigot gasket joints and welded joints, and includes discussion of theoretical concepts such as the Poisson effect and the Reissner effect. Topics which have raised issues in the field such as ponding due to sags in a PVC gravity line and the occasional cracking of PVC pipe bells during or after installation are also discussed. Current industry and manufacturer recommendations of various design parameters are provided in conjunction with the analysis...

...In 1968 ecologist, Garrett Hardin, wrote The Tragedy of the Commons. The arguments that he made have been used This publication became a key argument for the privatization of shared or public recourses. Hardin uses an allegory of a shared pasture in a medieval peasant village to convey his message on self sabotage actions. He comes to the conclusion that the tragedy of the common is inevitable. In The Tragedy of the Commons, Garret Hardin asks his readers to, "picture a pasture open to all" (Hardin 1968, pg 1244). In this shared pasture, he argues that each peasant acting in their own interest would send as many cows to graze their as they could. So many cows would be sent to graze in that pasture that the land would be inevitably destroyed....

...concepts introduced in earlier chapters. Marc and Craig begin by taking the simplest example of raising a few thousand dollars and move on to greater feats like raising over a billion dollars to help victims of natural disasters. The authors begin by describing a school in Toronto that has dozens of obstacles that it faces on a daily basis. Among those issues are racial tension, frequent violence and gang problems. The authors described this school as a type of school that was thought of as “needing help rather than giving it.” The authors describe how the student body was inspired by a speaker from Free the Children and ended up raising over $30,000 to help several causes in Africa. The authors then begin talking about the “tragedy of the commons” and truly begin hitting on their point of UNITY. Through several concise examples readers learn how working together for the greater good is much more effective than simply working alone. Continuing with the theme of unity, the authors talk about an issue that hits very close to home for me; family values. I have written extensively in prior assignments about my close relationship with my family and I’m very glad to see that Marc and Craig hold similar views on this issue. The whole philosophy of Me to We begins at a very young age and a tight-knit family is a key element that harbors a vibrant...

...disease that breaks down the cartilage in the joints. When the cartilage in a joint is broken down and degenerates there is no cushion for the bones and they begin to rub and grind on each other causing pain. There are over 100 different types of arthritis, Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis being the most common. In osteoarthritis, the cartilage begins to degenerate in various joints. It is found typically in the hands, spine, hips, and knees. Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, systemic inflammatory disease in which the immune system attacks the joint tissues. There are various symptoms that are displayed when an individual has arthritis. They include, joint pain, swelling, stiffness, and limited movement. Symptoms can include: joint pain, joint swelling, reduced ability to move the joint, redness of the skin around a joint, stiffness, especially in the morning, and warmth around a joint. Unfortunately there is no cure or treatment for this disease. That does not mean that once you have arthritis that your life is over and you shouldn't do anything about it. Exercise can reduce pain. Weight training or resistance training helps maintain muscle strength around the affected joint which can help stabilize the joint and reduce pain in the joint. It can also reduce joint stiffness when you are involved in a full ROM flexibility program. It helps prevent functional decline and improves mental health along with quality of life. So what does an exercise program...

...Thelma Sheppard English 101 Why People Exercise Upper Iowa University First of all, proper exercise can produce many positive results for an individual. Because any person can choose the method of exercise that best suits their needs or desires. The outcome is usually a positive and rewarding one. Exercise can be in the form of calisthenics, aerobics, jogging, walking, even weight lifting. As a result of choosing any exercise the heart begins to work, assisting with more blood flow, oxygen intake creating better circulation throughout the body. Heart disease is the number one killer in America today. Some people tend to become winded or feel tired when doing common work around the house, or other activities that may make them sweat, tend to think they should not do this anymore or should have someone else do it. As a result of this idea many people become less able and more likely to attract various other illnesses all stemming from the lack of physical activity. Proper daily exercise will help lower some risks of heart disease. Since walking, jogging, and bicycling all are good forms of aerobic exercise that starts working your heart. So, while these types of exercises are working your heart, blood circulation is increased and more oxygen is then carried through the body. Better circulation due to exercise will also help to lower a person’s blood pressure. Body weight and obesity are major concerns that can be controlled with aerobic exercise, resistance training...

...However, have you thought incorporating strength training? “In order to burn fat one needs to do strenuous amounts of aerobic exercise.” Although aerobic exercise, also known as cardio, does take part in burning fat and helping meet weight loss goals, the above statement is a common misconception. Aerobic exercise is a method of conditioning the cardio respiratory system by using activities that create an increased demand for oxygen over an extended period of time (Gladwin 501). If you want to burn the most fat, a combination of strength training (i.e.; using one’s body weight, free weights, or machines to improve muscular strength) and aerobic exercise will be the best choice. “…Muscle burns more calories than fat. Muscle also takes less space- that’s why a muscular person can weigh more but wear a smaller size” (Reno 88). So, if muscle burns more calories than fat this means strength training combined with cardio will have you burning excess fat faster than either one alone. Throughout time I have heard some fitness related myths: “Strength training will make me look like a bodybuilder” or “Cardio alone will burn off the pounds I have to lose.” From my experience, I can tell you that cardio alone will not burn off the excess fat. When I started working out I started out only doing cardio. I was ecstatic after losing the first 20 pounds, but after the first 20 my body hit a plateau. After doing some research I decided to add strength training to my workout regimen. Once I...

...CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION Background of the Study Structural materials can be categorized in many ways in many different ways. One of the most common is by the nature of their failure. Materials, such as steel, after reaching their elastic limit, deform plastically before failing. Such materials, where reasonably large plastic strains are observed, are broadly categorized as ductile. On the other hand, those materials that exhibit little or no plasticity are in contrast termed brittle. In structural design, ductile materials are usually preferred, because failure is rarely sudden and catastrophic. Once the material has yielded, large observable strains will occur before total collapse of a structure. Steel, the most common primary structural building material, generally behaves in a ductile fashion. However, during the World War II, over 200 steel ships suffered serious brittle fracture, often at relatively low stress levels. It was observed that brittle behavior, in normally ductile materials, almost always occurs in regions of elastic stress concentration, where some constraint exists to prevent plastic stress redistribution (McGuire, 1968) Following these experiences, designers realized that brittle fracture in steel could be avoided by sensible detailing. This is also true of reinforced concrete. Concrete itself, is a brittle composite, but with the addition of reinforcements concrete it behaves in a ductile fashion. In an earthquake-prone areas, where designing for ductility...
