Equiano wrote his autobiography for himself and others to share his life if you wanted to read it. He was not in search of money or fame. He simply wanted to share his stories. By Equiano using the first person narrative I feel he brings more realization to his stories. First person narratives allow the readers to become more drawn into the story by reliving it as he goes. It is like you are there with him.
As with Bashō's adventure, he wrote about his travels as he went along, like a travel diary. He told stories about everyone he encountered and about others experiences. Whereas Equiano wrote only about himself and his journey, an autobiography. Similar concepts, but whereas Equiano has to rely upon his memory for his stories, Bashō's
