Friday May 9, 2014. The Minnesota Wild versus the Chicago Blackhawks in playoffs. My brother and I were headed down to the Excl Energy Center, better known as The X, to watch game 3 of the series. The Wild were down two to one in the series, but were coming off a great win three days before. We walked into the enormous facility, and just like every other time, we stood there and took it all in. There were different paintings on the walls of retired hockey players, present players, and other miscellaneous pieces of art relating to hockey. We walked around smelling all the different foods they had to offer, but eventually we found our way to our seats. They were excellent seats in the second deck of the arena. The Wild stepped on the ice for the third period, and just like all the other fans, we were excited to how the game was going to pan out. Of course, whenever you attend a sporting event, you always want the team you’re cheering for to win; this was no different for A.J. and me. The third period started, and the game was starting to get “chippy”. There was a lot of extracurricular hitting and punching after the whistle was blown. The fans, including my brother and me, went crazy. Every Wild fan was on his or her feet celebrating the goal. Some people were giving high fives to their neighbors, even if they had no clue who they were. The Minnesota Wild was 16 minutes away from tying the series up at two games …show more content…
There was a lot of cheering by the fans. Every so often Nordy, the Minnesota Wild’s mascot, would lead the fans in a cheer, such as; Lets go Wild. The Chicago Blackhawks got an offensive zone face off and decided to pull their goalie in order to put an extra attacker on the ice. They needed to score two goals in two minutes. During the remaining minutes of the game, Patrick Kane, one of the best hockey players, had a couple chances to score, but put them wide or over the net. The Minnesota Wild cleared the puck to center ice, but by the time Chicago got to it, the horn blew to end the game. The Minnesota Wild beat the Chicago Blackhawks four to

If this situation sounds familiar, you may find it reassuring to know that many professionals undergo these same strange compulsions before they begin writing. Jean Kerr, author of Please Don’t Eat the Daisies, admits that she often finds herself in the kitchen reading soup-can labels—or anything—in order to prolong the moments before taking pen in hand. John C. Calhoun, vice president under Andrew Jackson, insisted he had to plow his fields before he could write, and Joseph Conrad, author of Lord Jim and other novels, is said to have cried on occasion from the sheer dread of sitting down to compose his stories. To spare you as much hand-wringing as possible, this chapter presents some practical suggestions on how to begin writing your short essay. Although all writers must find the methods that work best for them, you may find some of the following ideas helpful. But no matter how you actually begin putting words on paper, it is absolutely essential to maintain two basic ideas concerning your writing task.
