Topic: Compare the baker in “Small Good Thing” to Abner Snopes in “Barn Burning.” In what ways are the two men similar? What effect do they have on the people around them?
Thesis: That both the baker and Abner Snopes have little in common, yet their actions on others is complete opposites.

First off is Abner Snopes from “Barn Burning” by William Faulkner. Abner is described as a terrifying figure, with what is described as a “harsh, level stare.(1190). Abners’ use of emotional and physical violence has an impact on his son, which leads them to participate in barn burning. (1194) Abner, to me feels like a bad guy.
