Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence is evolving every day, however this technology is erasing the future of mankind all together. An example of artificial technology diminishing our future in stories would be in “The Pedestrian” and “The Veldt” by Ray Bradbury. “The Pedestrian” shows the government diminished the entire police force to only one artificial intelligent police car which could not react rationally to Leonard Mead which was simply walking. “The Veldt” also glorifies the downsides of artificial intelligence. It does this by showing how a “nursery” can replace neglectful parents of the children. “The Pedestrian” and ”The Veldt” fictional stories by Ray Bradbury, show how artificial intelligence is unhealthy for the future…show more content… The rooms were acrawl with the small cleaning animals, all rubber and metal. They thudded against chairs, whirling their mustached runners, kneading the rug nap, sucking gently at hidden dust. … The house was clean (“There Will Come Soft Rains” 1).
This is a valid point because the family gets more time to enjoy with each other, rather than doing lengthy chores in the house. On the other hand, the artificial intelligent house controlled the lives of the family in a rigid routine with no flexibility. In addition to artificial intelligence controlling people’s lives, it will have a negative effect on the economy due to people’s jobs being replaced. Those few benefits of artificial intelligences do not compete with the drawbacks of it. One major drawback to the emerging technology of artificial intelligence will have a negative effect on the world’s economy. One of the primary reasons is that it will make jobs become useless. In President Obama’s farewell speech, he warned his americans about the future of automation: “the relentless pace of automation [will make] a lot of good, middle-class jobs obsolete”(Miller). The future of artificial intelligence coincides with automation and it will lead to fewer jobs for the working and middle classes in America. This is because it is more cost-effective for corporations to use artificial intelligent technology instead of using hardworking humans in their factories and workplaces. It will…show more content… As you eliminate workers and people become unemployed or their wages fall, consumers will have less purchasing power to buy the products and services produced by the economy. As a result, there will be less and less demand. … there are going to be a lot of people who are either unemployed, underemployed, or struggling financially, who simply won’t have discretionary income to spend (Worrall).
This will be an endless cycle of how all people will become penniless very fast due to not having a job. Because the consumers will not be able to afford the products, businesses will also collapse and will put the entire globe into a Great Depression situation. This situation is bound to become a reality soon if the technological advances of artificial intelligence continues to
