Omnipotence is being all powerful, the ability to do all, and nothing is impossible. Many philosophers have come up with arguments to help prove their opinion on the doctrine of God being omnipotent. George Mavrodes and Harry Frankfurt both analyze omnipotence by looking at the question on God’s ability to create a stone too heavy that he cannot lift it himself. This example is looking at if God can do tasks that challenge each other. Mavrodes’s intent is to analyze the question both for God being and not being omnipotent. He focuses more on how the question about the creating of the stone helping to prove that God is not omnipotent, but also states that this question also is not relevant in disproving God’s omnipotence.
