Some stories are good for just one time read and some leave a great impact on how you think. “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” by NICHOLAS CARR and “Java Man” by MALCOLM GLADWEL are one of those impactful stories. These two stories share some similarities along with some differences. Both authors have a very similar approach on the idea of how the world is depending on other substance such as the “internet” and “Caffeine” way more than it should. However, the two story may differ with each other, the audience of each story may differ. Carr and Gladwell take different approach towards how a human mind was meant to operate. As a cultural analysis, both stories focus on how people are relying or depending more on other resources in order to be productive and be able to prosper. So when Carr talks about having too many“distraction” while using the internet, the younger generation will know what he might be talking about. Granted younger generation will find the internet much efficient to use because that is how they grew up using. Having access to the internet gives one to express and spend more time towards creativity. Through Having access to the internet is only making us smart. On the other hand, Malcolm’s story, “Java Man”, focuses more on the older generation or someone who are addict to caffeine. Malcolm reminds us that “there is no drug quite as effortlessly adaptable as caffeine.” So its a “wake up” call for the people who don't realize that their intake of caffeine is a huge reason on how they function.
