From the school East pennsboro Middle school we as a eighth grade orange team went to the Conodoguinet Creek to find if the creek is polluted or it’s not polluted. We were trying to find what kind of quality of water is there in Conodoguinet Creek. One of the station was that the groups went in the water with bamboo pole, bobber, and a timer. The groups were supposed to find depth of water (cm). The distance of string (cm). Also the time(sec) it takes the bobber to get to the bamboo pole. We also had to velocity of surface water and we also had to to find what everyone else got their results.
In the Conodoguinet Creek There was also another station, station two that was that the student had to count Critter for each group like group one, group two, and group three of the insects. Group one which was pollution sensitive insects was there the most that me and my group found. We also found some of the insects from group two which was somewhat pollution sensitive. We also found very small amount of…show more content… We tested and found the phosphate, Nitrate, Dissolved oxygen, pH meter, pH paper, alkalinity test. rocks collected, rocks neutralizing acid, and rocks that is not neutralizing acid. I had phosphate and we got less than 1 which is 0 and groups got the same thing except one group, one of the group got 0.1 as their result and that is good. Other result that other groups tested were result that Conodoguinet creek was fine.
We also found out the Acidity test the pH scale measures acids and basic. The pH scale goes from 0 up to 14, which is an acid reading. Sometimes the pH measurement may be high or low. The amount of dissolved oxygen in a body of water will determine the type and number of macroinvertebrate that may live there. A stream with a great abundance of life would probably have the pH measurement of 7 or near
