Power Distance Indicator
Power distance
This dimension deals with the fact that all individuals in societies are not equal – it expresses the attitude of the culture towards these inequalities amongst us. Power distance is defined as the extent to which the less powerful members of institutions and organisations within a country expect and accept that power is distributed unequally. It has to do with the fact that a society’s inequality is endorsed by the followers as much as by the leaders. http://geert-hofstede.com/ Deaf culture
I think Deaf culture would score at the low end on this. In the Deaf community we believe strongly in equality. We are not like any other culture because we are made up of so many different backgrounds, races, and religious groups. But we have a common goal and that is to come together as one and function smoothly. Yes, we have our leaders such as I.Jordan King, our first Deaf President at Gallaudet University
