The conflicting idea that I found in ringing rocks is that the type of rocks. The Doctor, also a photographer which is David Hanauer insist that the boulders in the Ringing Rock Park were composed of a material that resemble the vocanic basalt which is diabase. However, another Doctor which is Dr. Edgar T.Wherry (1885-1982) mineralogist and botanist,identify the boulder fields as a type of felsenmeer which is sea of rock. According to If Rocks could sing:The Ringing Rocks of Bucks Co. by Michael T.Cianchetta,Fall(2011), the author states that scientific scrutinize deduce that this unusual rocks form may already took 175 million years to form. This Ringing Rocks Park’s boulder are mainly make up of a material that resemble volcanic basalt which is diabase. …show more content…
The boulder in the park have a high diabase content so they consist of a healthy amount of iron and aluminum , which occasionally appears as veins of brown and red throughout the rock. Furthermore, science suggest that near the end of the Pleistocene Epoch in around 12000 years ago, the boulders in Ringing Rocks Park divide apart and underwent a series of freezing and melting cycles. Hanauer particularly recognized this process as “frost wedging,” and this process had lasted for many years and produced myriad of small and broken piece of diabase. According to the scientific investigation, these split up pieces then underwent “solifluction,” a process which saturated sediment , such as soil hidden below the boulder slowly shift downhill over an impermeable surface with carrying the content above it. This movement of soil very probably deliver the boulders to the current place and explains why they have accumulated in such a concentrated
