Decontamination is a process of eliminating infectious organisms or other harmful substances that include cleaning, disinfection, and/or sterilizations of reusable medical devices to minimize the risk of transmission of infectious agents. The best practices for cleaning, Disinfection and sterilization in healthcare is managed by the Provincial Infectious advisory committee. Following the appropriate procedures decreases infection and contamination rates which provides for positive outcomes to patient care otherwise, HAIs may occur including failure of facilities and personnel to utilize proper decontaminated techniques. The sterilization process is completed manually or by a machine .Some instruments and devices are very delicate such as Microsurgical Instruments, Robotic Instrument, Power Equipment and other instrument that cannot tolerate automated cleaning process.
