...DesignIT Network Proposal Strayer University CIS 105 DesignIT Network Proposal Executive Summary DesignIT started as a graphics art company that contracted their work until now. The company has since grown into a popular graphic arts company. The kind of growth that DesignIT has experienced in the short time they have been in business has created a need for operational expansion. DesignIT’s rapid growth through the graphic arts industry allowed DesignIT the ability to increase the size of their business and keep their clients happy by maintaining a good price point with a good product. The growth has also opened the business up to a wide array of challenges concerning information systems, which will have to be dealt with as the company moves forward. The following proposal will set forth the recommendations necessary to develop DesignIT’s information system processes, to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the businesses new location. Primary project goals: • High Speed Internet Access. • Firewall • Anti-virus/Malware protection • Six Computers • Three Laser Color Printers • Wireless Access for Portable Devices. A financial allotment of $45,000 has been added into the 2014 fiscal year budget for the completion of this plan. The development and implementation of this plan will follow the expectations set forth in DesignIT’s mission statement. DesignIT has a very strong company mission statement...

...Network Consultation for DesignIT 4/12/12 Now for the firewall, using the basic windows firewall is probably alright given that it protects all the individual computers that run the OS. The only minor problem that might arise is protecting the servers. This can be solved by regularly backing up the servers, testing data integrity, and running anti-virus programs. The costs of this setup will differ based on what kind of projects the business takes on. If this is an IT firm that also develops government contracts then the hardware needed might be a little higher than normal. The network speed also varies depending on where the business is based. If the business is in a big city that is dominated by only a single ISP, then the network connection price may be very high for the needed amount of bandwidth needed. If the business is located in certain cities with Google Fiber then getting 100+Mbps may be relatively cheap. Assuming that this business has Google Fiber the cost to provide it for a small business is $100/month. This allows the company to have up to 1Gbps upload and download speed, firewall protection, gigabit routing, and online network management via MyFiber. It also has dedicated support and guaranteed price for 1 year. If more static IP addresses are needed it can be added on for $20/month or 5 static IP addresses for $30/month depending on if it’s needed for testing or development (Google Fiber)....

...DesignIT Network Consultation Proposal Strayer University CIS175 Introduction to Networking Professor June 17 Network Consultation Proposal In order to design and deliver a reliable and secure network for DesignIT, many critical factors must be considered such as the network topology and architecture, the selection of hardware and software components designed to meet the client’s requirements, and also appropriate security services. DesignIT has decided to upgrade from a temporary workplace to a permanent office space. The new space measures 56’ x 36’ giving DesigntIT over 2000 square feet of dedicated space. This new space contains four cubicles, one executive office, one server room, one reception desk, and one conference room and allows DesignIT to hire two full time designers and a receptionist. As stated in the Request for Proposal (RFP) issued by DesignIT, the design must incorporate the following considerations: * Relocation of three servers configured as follows: * One (1) Web Server – Microsoft IIS Server * One (1) File Server- Microsoft Server 2008 * One (1) Server – Server 2008 Small Business Server Furthermore, DesignIT has stated the design must also include the following deliverables: * High speed internet access * Firewall * Antiviurs/Malware protection * Six (6) computers * Three (3) color laser printers * Wireless access for portable devices A critical first step in designing...

...Network Consultation Introduction to Networking June 19, 2016 Network Design DesignIT has requested the consideration of all interconnected devices and wiring, along with speeds, for best performance. I recommend using a Local Area Network (LAN) design to efficiently fulfill this request. According to Agarwal & Tayal (2009), “The main reason for designing a LAN is to share resources such as disks, printers, programs, and data. It also enables the exchange of information.” Using a server based LAN, DesignIT can manage its six computers through by accessing the main computer from the three servers which can be located in the server room as indicated on the design layout. There are several advantages of LAN such as: * It allows for a large number of users to access data from a single memory. * Files are stored on single memory. * The processing can be done by numerous of users simultaneously. * Low cost. * Resource sharing. * Every device can communicate with any other device. * Independent devices are interconnected with high degree Compared to other area networks, the LAN is ideal for being used in a small area such as an office building. LAN has the lowest error rates, highest speed in transmission and uses the most inexpensive equipment such as Ethernet and token rings. Network Architecture DesignIT is a small business that is expanding and requires additional workstations. As the company continues to grow, there is a natural expectation...

...CIS175008VA016-1154-001 Intro to Networking Professor Obi Ndubuisi June 14, 2015 For the company DesignIT, I would use a LAN type of network (for local-area network). This networks several computers, a mail (exchange) server, a database server and a file share server in one building and interconnects with each switch or backbone. I chose this for this small space because it is less than 100 square feet and is all within a single dwelling. This way the employees can all share their resources with one another, an intranet, database and printers. This network only needs a single modem with wireless capabilities and an optional access point located at the opposite end. I would recommend the wireless access-point to serve the conference room in case the client wants to set up teleconferences. We can even create an interface that when their computer finds the wireless network, a page would come up asking for their employee ID and password. This would also provide access for vendors and customers so they can have temporary access in order to have access to their files on Cloud or DropBox in order to contribute to DesignIT during their visit. Most businesses have these similar services and use ring topology or mesh topology. With ring topology there is an extra layer created, if one device fails you can pin-point the failure but the entire network would go down. DesignIT would only need one of each: a router, a backbone, a packet shaper, a net enforcer, a switch and gigabit fiber/copper...

...REV: SEPTEMBER 5, 2007 ROBERT D. AUSTIN DANIELA BEYERSDORFER Bang & Olufsen: Design Driven Innovation “The Farm,” Bang & Olufsen’s futuristic glass-and-concrete headquarters, rose out of the green fields of western Denmark “like something lifted from a Stanley Kubrick dreamscape.”2 In a nearby parking area, Christopher Sorensen stepped from his car and walked toward the entrance, on his way to meet with a high-powered group that included the CEO, to discuss an important product program. Within this 80-year-old company, based in rural Jutland where local people might still consider you an outsider after 30 years, Sorensen would be very much the newcomer. Despite that, he would try to convince the others to adjust the firm’s successful design process—to change a winning game. In April 2006, Bang & Olufsen (B&O) sold a range of televisions, audio systems, loudspeakers, telephones, and other products (see Exhibit 1) in more than 60 countries. The company had a worldwide reputation for idea-based products of high quality and artistic design, many of which held places of honor in the permanent collections of the world’s greatest art museums. (According to a citation at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, B&O had “delivered the largest and most consistent design portfolio among the world’s industrial companies.”3) This level of accomplishment translated into high price points (see Exhibit 2) and profit margins, realized through an exclusive network of dealers, from devoted...
