Loyalty is known as a state of being faithful, devoted, honest, supportive, trustworthy, and obedient to a person , but can be hard to find and cause betrayal. When I think about loyalty, I think of a person who is there for me unconditionally through ups and downs and trials and tribulations. This person is honest with me even when it hurts and supportive of me even when they disagree with me. Loyalty is being faithful.
Faithfulness in a relationship is showing that you are reliable, true to your word, and keep your promises. Being trustworthy is showing that you are dependable, loyal, and reliable. When you are working at a retail store as cashier, they will first evaluate you to make sure you are trustworthy enough to handle the cash that goes in and out of the cash register. You show your loyalty by being honest at all times. Honesty is being sincere, frank, and up front. Sincerity is being humble and genuine. In the light of being loyal, sometimes a person can confuse loyalty with love. Just because a person says they love you doesn’t mean they are loyal to you. There are many people who love each other but are not loyal to the person. They tell a person they love them and turn around to betray them. Loyalty is not betrayal! Furthermore, some people confuse loyalty with stupidity. You can be loyal to someone without being stupid. A true friend should be able to tell you the truth regardless if it hurts or not. A true friend will stand up for the truth rather than stupidity. Additionally, most people confuse loyalty with greed because they will do anything and everything to get the things you have and to be just like you. Being greedy can and will lead to betrayal.
In addition to being loyal, God wants us to be faithful and devoted to Him and Him only. If you are sincerely righteous and have a kind heart, God will bless you and make life much easier for you. Proverbs 21:21 says,“Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor.” Sometimes being loyal can make a person do crazy things because they are so eager to please you. They will go as far as doing things out of the ordinary such as, stealing, doing petty crimes, and sometimes murder. God wants us to fear Him and understand that there are consequences to everything we do in life. He wants us to follow Him and not be so conformed into this world. Proverbs 24:21 says, “ My son, fear the Lord and the King, and do not join with those who do otherwise.” Lastly, having faith and being devoted to God means so much more than just following Him. He wants us to honor Him and trust Him through all things. We all fall short of His glory each and everyday. We were born sinners, so God understands that we are human. He wants us to pour our hearts out to Him and leave all of our stress in His hands for Him to handle. He has forgiven us before we confessed our sins and asked for forgiveness. 1 John 1:9 says, “ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and Just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Ultimately, being loyal is a great quality to have and it shows how trustworthy a person can be. Sometimes it is hard God shows us everyday how Faithful He is to us and how Loyal He is to us everyday of our lives. Why can’t we trust and show our loyalty to Him?
