Though both Asher and Melissa are heartbroken over the breakup of their year-long relationship, both of them claimed that the breakup wasn’t their fault. Their relationship was torn apart because of Melissa as she constantly brought Asher down, prioritized her grades, and she felt as if he wasn’t right for her. In the relationship between the two, Melissa constantly brought Asher down, ultimately hurting his feelings, and their relationship. The conversation between Asher’s sister and stepfather in Doc 2 show that they saw the breakup coming from a mile away because of their differences. This Doc demonstrates their breakup and how it was Melissa’s fault because she constantly hurt his feelings by laughing at his report card, which brought Asher down. Their personalities are completely opposite: Asher is spontaneous and playful, but Melissa is more serious and worried about her grades, which damaged their relationship, ultimately leading to the breakup. In Doc 5, Asher tells Melissa how he feels by saying, “You’re mad at me all the time anyways…. In Doc 4, it shows that in Semester 1, she had only A’s in every class. She was also 2nd in her class rank. Then in Semester 2, some of her grades dropped to B’s and her class rank dropped to 7th but she still had mostly A’s. Then in Doc 3, Melissa and Asher are texting and she said that she can’t go to the movies with him because she needed to study for a quiz that she has.
