...Discussion Board Unit 5 Comp101/1401B Introduction to Computers A. Questions for weekly discussions and conversations. 1. What are some of the main applications for Object Linking and Embedding (OLE)? OLE 1.0 was released in 1990 by Microsoft; it was the evolved from the Dynamic Data Exchange. A couple of the main applications for Object Linking and Embedding are Microsoft Document and Microsoft Excel. The reason for linking and embedding is maintaining active links between two documents or embedding one type of document within another document. Object Linking is a linked component that stores the path to the original data which is often in a separate fie. Embedding is using the Paste command in a container application that can create an embedded component or an embedded item. 2. Under what circumstances might you use OLE to embed an Excel spreadsheet in a Word document? Why might OLE be better than “copy and Paste”? You might use OLE to embed an Excel spreadsheet in a Word document when you want to work within the original document. It makes it easier to be able to work with. OLE is better than copy and paste because of OLE; you can create a chart in Excel, copy it, and paste the copy into a document in Word. But you can also go beyond the copy-and-paste operation. You can link the copied chart back to its original file in Excel (the source file). Then, if you make changes to the original file, the changes are automatically made to the copied...

...Unit 5- Discussion Board: Overtime as the United States progressed and became more culturally diverse, the melting pot theory and the American mosaic concept were formed (M.U.S.E., 2010). During the 19th century, the melting pot theory was formed and described as a blending or fusion of society where different cultures and nations and mixed together to form a common culture. More recently, the American mosaic concept was shaped essentially stating people from different cultures and backgrounds come together in harmony adding their own unique contributions to society, otherwise known as multiculturalism. The American mosaic appears to be a bit more realistic in regards to our society. One reason behind this is everyone is different. The blending of different nationalities, cultures, and religions and forming of one common culture seems a bit outrageous. I think it would be truly unrealistic for individuals to give up their true identity, language, and/or culture to become basically one in the same. Additionally, I do not think it’s possibly for one and all to be considered the same when problems such as discrimination still exist (Carliner, 1975). As stated by Xiao-huang (1998), “the Asian-Pacific population in the United States grew from one million in 1965 to over nine million in 1995”(para.2). This is just one example of one ethnic group who has dramatically changed the American demographic. Asian Americans have made many contributions to American society. This group...

...Grade Received, "A" Healthcare is a privilege that is within reach of the rich, a benediction supplied strictly under the consideration of a business who hires, a government-financed insurance plan for the aged, or a generous gift supplied from the generosity of other individuals. Our Founding Fathers said that we are gifted with indispensable rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It is understood that for individuals to live, then we must remain healthy. However, there is very little discussion of this right in the Constitution. One particular amendment to the Constitution says that convicts are to be approved to have a right to healthcare (Healthcare: A Privilege, Not a Right, 2011). Presently, convicts are the only ones that are given the right to healthcare. If our Founding Fathers would have foreseen how important healthcare would become, it is likely that they would have allowed each and every individual to have a right to healthcare. When the Constitution was being framed, although inadequate in comparison to the present norms, healthcare was more or less attainable to all individuals. There wasn’t a large deficit of people that could not afford it or have access to it (Healthcare: A Privilege, Not a Right, 2011). Makers of the Constitution, such as Thomas Jefferson, were greatly affected from their own happenings. Thomas Jefferson was not very trusting of doctors, and instead trusted nature. Founded on a practical image of the inadequate...

...Grade Received, "A" Respondeat superior is when an employer is found to be responsible for the wrongful acts of his/her employees. The two legal elements that have to exist in order for the employer to be found responsible for his/her employees actions are: (1) it must be proven that the employee must have acted in their own scopes of employment, and (2) the deed done by the employee must’ve been related to his/her employment (Fremgen, 2012). In order to be thought of as being inside the scope of employment, the employee had to find it essential to complete a duty or it would be expected that an employee will complete the job. Even individual tasks such as going to the restroom, or fixing a glass of soda are thought to be inside the scope of employment although no actual work is being done (Respondeat Superior, 2013). The employer is responsible for damage acquired by the employee inside the scope of employment regardless if the damage was caused by accident or from recklessness, and for harm done intentionally to benefit the employer. Work could be done in an unprofessional manner, and could cause harm, and sometimes, tasks are taken way overboard. For example, a worker could be delegated to complete a task, but he/she does not feel that he/she can complete the task following the rules. For instance, a consumer is being stubborn and doesn’t want to take his/her medicine. A worker is given the duty of giving medicine to consumers. The worker may use force to give...

...American InterContinental University MGMT422-1301A-01: Professor William Becker March 14, 2013 A venture capital firm is a company that invests money into small businesses that have the possibility of achieving very fast growth and produce huge surpluses (Lambing & Kuehl, 2007). Because venture capitalists normally focus on a particular industry like health care, biotechnology, etc, the entrepreneur that is looking for venture capital needs to conduct some research in order to decide which venture capitalist will invest in their particular industry (Lambing & Kuehl, 2007). I do not think there is a definite answer on the type of venture capitalist to look for. The entrepreneur must know which industry he/she is in, do his/her research, and go from there. After doing some research, I think that a venture capitalist would like to see all financial documentation for the business that it will potentially invest in. They also want to see tax rates for capital gains (Lambing & Kuehl, 2007). When I say all financial documents, the business may also want to include at least five years of income statements, balance sheets and cash-flow statements (Peavler, 2013). They basically need to know what and how much of a risk they will or will not be getting into. Trying to close a deal with a venture capitalist entails many things. To do this, there are quite a few steps. First, the business must decide if they actually need venture capital. If it is decided that VC is...

...American InterContinental University FINA310-1301A-02: Professor Michael James March 12, 2013 The arguments regarding whether or not a business practice is sound is said to be related to the administrative tactics of that particular area. In terms of a cash rebate, this is both a sound and ethical business choice because it is a way of promoting a store or business and a way to create demand for that particular store or business’s products. This is normally done in a sense that customers are encouraged to collect tokens and then trade them for cash tickets. Cash rebates are in the same family as the purchase one get one free business promotion. This is also a sound business practice and an ethical one as well. The purchase one get one free arouses the customer needs because when they buy something, they get something else for free; more or less, like a thanks for purchasing our products (Mullin, 2010). In a study completed by the United Marketing Services, it has been proven that for all consumers that took part in rebates, only twenty to forty percent were actually paid. Because these numbers were so low for people taking part again asking for around two or three refunds per year (Elridge, 2012), the industry numbers go somewhat farther to show that only forty to sixty percent of rebates are not paid (Senator Warns Consumers of Rebate Traps, 2006). The company that I’m familiar with is Staples. Due to the fact that they operate with a fast-paced customer...

...BUSN105 – Unit 1 Discussion Board. A Students Introduction To The Discussion Board BUSN105 – Unit 1 Discussion Board. A Students Introduction To The Discussion Board Jay Smith A STUDENTS INTRODUCTION TO THE DISCUSSION BOARD 2 Abstract I would like to introduce myself, my name is Jay Smith, I live in Titusville, Florida where I manage the apartment building in which I reside. I am married now 3 years, have no children – just a fur face Manchester terrier named Louiee. My previous educational background consist of one semester at Daytona State College in 2001, as a Business Major. I have found that sometimes in live – one’s world can change in an instant and the course of the live that you had planned – suddenly changes. And looking back I believe this is what happened to me, as after one semester I chose to drop out and become involved in the local Daytona Area Music and Club scene. The results: A failed musician and a bloody nasty drinking habit. In 2004 I entered Savannah’s Hospital and completed the 28 day program. Since then I have 8 years without a drink. Woot! I love to share my experience, strength and hope with the newcomers, as I have stayed very active in the A.A. program, and most recently I have begun to teach the local Step Study Meetings for the “Celebrate Recovery” group here in town. “Celebrate Recovery” would be considered the Christian based A.A. program, with literature from author Rick Warren, (writer of “The...
