Disk Clean Up
Disk Clean up is a utility that is used when the computer is being maintained. This feature is part of the windows operating system. Its sole purpose of Disk Clean up is to free up disk space by deleting junk, temp and unused files it also is used to compress files as well. Disk Clean Up would become part of my arsenal if the PC I was working on were running sluggish and files started taking a really long time to open. I would also use it if I was running out of room on my Hard Drive.
Diskpart
Diskpart is actually a command line prompt the will allow you to create a partition on a hard drive without having to use the help of a third party software program such as True Image, Norton’s Ghost, and also Partition Magic. I actually used this command line prompt a couple days ago because I needed to create and format a partition on my usb flash drive so I could boot off of it from the bios. But there different way to utilize this feature and another on is to create a partition on the system drive and format it to any filing system FAT, FAT32, or NTFS and you would then be able use that section of your hard drive for storage or the installation of drives.
Defragmentation
In the maintenance of file systems, it is a process that reduces the amount of fragmentation. It does this by physically organizing the contents of the mass storage device used to store files into the smallest number of contiguous regions (fragments). It also attempts to create larger regions of free space using compaction to impede the return of fragmentation. I implement this tool all the time to reduce stress on my hard drive when looking for certain files. The less my hard drive has to move the better.
Disk Management Console The disk management console is an awesome built in tool otherwise known as a snap in, with this feature Windows has opened up a box of goodies for you to have complete control of your main HDD or any storage device entered in to your machine. Such as an under the hood raid, a what they call a Real World HDD Raid, it also has the capability to enable you to be able to remote in and make any changes to the storage devices on said PC. You can also create, move, extend, and manage Partitions. I would most likely put this tool in to use if I quickly wanted to create a partition for a dual boot. Also another awesome thing the disk management can do is enable me to create a dynamic disk which I then can create as many volumes as I want and put whatever image I want on them and get this I doesn’t require a reboot.

How can by performing the proper disk management be beneficial when implementing a system image to a computer?
When creating a new volume to implement an image upon it I would first go into Disk Management and check my hard drives specs size, how much room is left on my drive, also then I would create an appropriate sized partition and filing system more than likely NTFS to implement my image on.
Compare and contrast Basic and Dynamic Disks that can be configured on a hard drive. Your comparison should include the functionality, differences of each, along with the advantages and disadvantages of each type of disk management.
BASIC DISK
Use normal partition tables supported by MS-DOS and all Windows versions. A basic disk contains basic volumes, such as primary partitions, extended partitions, and logical drives. If you have any volume sets, stripe sets, mirror sets, or stripe sets with parity, you must back them up and delete or convert them to dynamic disks before you install Windows XP Professional. A basic or dynamic disk can contain any combination of FAT16, FAT32, or NTFS partitions or volumes. The disadvantage of a basic disk is that you are limited to creating only four primary partitions per disk or three primary partitions and one extended partition with logical drives. Windows NT based systems can support striping and software RAID sets for basic disks but Windows 2000/XP/2003 do not.
DYNAMIC DISK are supported in Windows XP Professional, Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003. Dynamic disks do not use partitions or logical drives. Dynamic disks were first introduced with Windows 2000. With dynamic disks you can create volumes that span multiple disks such as spanned and striped volumes, and you can also create fault tolerant volumes such as mirrored volumes and RAID 5 volumes. Dynamic disks offer greater flexibility for volume management because they use a database to track information about dynamic volumes on the disk and about other dynamic disks in the computer. Windows Server 2003 can repair a corrupted database on one dynamic disk by using the database on another dynamic disk. With dynamic storage, you can perform disk and volume management without restarting Windows.
The Disadvantages of a Basic Disk 1. The partition size is limited to two terabytes. 2. The creation of a partition is limited to a single disk. 3. The input /output operation is limited. 4. It also has lack of fault-tolerant.
The Disadvantages of a Dynamic Disk is that you must delete all volumes on a dynamic disk before you can revert the disk back to a basic disk. Another major disadvantage of dynamic disks is the near absence of tools to fix the disk if it has corrupt sectors on it.

...Friday which did not get done. Some of you cleanup your desk but the common area still remain unclean. As you all know, the common area is used by all, so this coming Friday we will all try this again. In the fiscal year budget there was not much funds allocated custodial maintenance. With that being said if everyone would clean up after himself or herself it would make things a lot more easer for everyone. The targeted areas to be cleaned are as follows: 1. The copy machine area:- We should make sure that the waste baskets are empted out. Also make sure that supplies are neatly organized on the shelves. 2. The lunch room:- Counters need to be wipe down after use The refrigerator need to also be kept clean any food item left in there over the weekend should be thrown out on Monday morning. The sinks and coffee machine should also be wiped down after every use. And last but not least the office shelves should be reorganized at the end of every work day. I don’t to implement a cleaning schedule but would like for everyone to come together as a team and work together in the keeping our work area and our common area clean and making it comfortable to work in. The memo was very effective and had a professional and polite tone where I took my readers into consideration. This causes my message to be much more effective by tailoring it towards my audience to effectively reach them. The potential barriers to the successful communication of...

The Challenge Idea

...Name Instructor Course Date Challenge idea My love for a clean environment has made me join several volunteering environmental cleanup programs as well as clubs pursuing the cause of a beautiful ecosystem. The motivation for maintaining the integrity and assuming the responsibility of taking leadership is the perfect reason that encourages me to get involved in community clean up. When I considered the challenge, the activity that came into my mind was to organize a 3-hour community clean up around our area. Through this activity, I would be able to interact with my community members directly and help the community realize the benefits that come along with a clean environment. A healthy environment does improve the physical neighborhood. Besides, it creates opportunities for individual investment, social fellowship and pride to the people in the neighborhood. It will not only create a nice place to dwell but also portrays a better landscape for professionals, prospective employers, and other community visitors by providing the best health benefits. A clean-up process begins with proper organizing and planning of the program. I can only manage through identifying key stakeholders (through stakeholder identification process) to form my committee. The 3-hour process will involve organizational representatives, businesses, and individuals who I will invite including city representatives, the city council, and the local media. Since community improvement involves private and public...

Worms are self-replicating the same as malicious software, but worms will use up the computers processing data and network bandwidth. Anti-virus software also scans the websites you visit to check if they have trusted certificates, this is done by connecting to the network to check that the certificate can be trusted by the anti-virus software. Anti-virus software will update regular, this will prevent any security breaches of the computer because around 300,000 viruses are created each day. Some examples of anti-virus software include McAfee, Norton, Avast and Kaspersky Lab. Some operating system may have forms of anti-virus software, these include Windows Defender. When a virus is detected on a computer, the anti-virus software will either remove it or put it into quarantine. When a file or application is placed into...

...subsequently to magnetic tapes, drums and disks. The pace of development of the magnetic disk drive since its conception in the early 1950’s has been such that it is now a standard component in all except the smallest hand held computer system. The disk drive industry is fast-paced and competitive. With each product generation or cycle, new storage densities are achieved by employing new designs, technologies and materials. Often, these new technologies are introduced by start-up companies, and so we observe that with the supplanting of the older technologies and processes, often the older manufacturers that are slower with the introduction of these technologies become noncompetitive and are supplanted also by the newer companies. Thus we have observed frequent “shake-ups” among the disk manufacturers, with many start-up companies, frequent closures, and dynamic re-structuring and mergers and acquisitions taking place. 10.1.1 Disk Drive History The first magnetic drum was probably used in the Manchester University’s Mark I built in 1948. In the early 1950’s, IBM conceived and designed the first magnetic disk drive, a Direct Access Storage Device (DASD) in IBM terminology. The pace of increments in the storage density has been rapid as can be seen from the above table. In this chapter we will focus on Winchester disk drives, currently the most important disk drive technology. These drives are characterised by having non-removable disk media in an environmentally-sealed...

Computer Maintenance

...Computer Maintenance Shakeyla Pugh A regular maintenance routine will help keep your computer in good condition. A maintenance routine should include cleaning the computer, disk maintenance, and regularly updating virus protection and operating system software. Cleaning An LCD (liquid crystal display) screen should be cleaned using a soft cotton cloth and a solution of water and isopropyl alcohol. The solution should be applied to the cloth first, never sprayed directly on the screen. To clean a keyboard, a can of compressed air can be used to spray in between the keys to push out dust and crumbs. Q-tips, a small flat screwdriver, or sticky notes can also be used to remove dust and crumbs from the keyboard. A can of compressed air should be used to clean the back of the computer tower, especially the cooling fan vents. The exterior of a mouse can be cleaned using a damp soft cloth. If the mouse has a trackball, the trackball should be removed and wiped with a dry cloth. Disk Maintenance Most operating systems have built-in performance and maintenance features that allow the user to free up space on the hard disk and rearrange files on your hard disk to increase efficiency. It is also a good idea to delete any unnecessary files from the hard disk on a regular basis. Updating Software New viruses are continually being created. In order to protect against new viruses, new virus definitions must be downloaded on a regular basis. Most virus protection software has an option...

Operating System

...is a Hard Disk or Hard Drive let me refresh your mind, with a simple explanation: Hard Disk/ Drive, is a device for storing and retrieving digital information, primarily computer data. It consists of one or more rigid rapidly rotating discs (platters) coated with magnetic material, and with magnetic heads arranged to write data to the surfaces and read it from them. With that been said, now move forward with Operating System and Hard Disk/ Drive. I would like to recommend you the best operating system is DOS (Disk Operating System), why? Because has everything you need. Let me tell you a little more about DOS. Disk Operating System: Most often abbreviated as DOS, refer to operating system software used in most computers that provides the abstraction and management of secondary storage devices and the information on them (e.g., file systems for organizing files of all sorts). Such software is referred to as a disk operating system when the storage devices it manages are made of rotating platters, such as floppy disks or hard disks. In the early days of microcomputers, computer memory space was often limited, so the disk operating system was an extension of the operating system. This component was only loaded if needed. Otherwise, disk access would be limited to low-level operations such as reading and writing disks at the sector-level. In some cases, the disk operating system component (or even the operating system) was known as DOS. Sometimes, a disk operating...

Operating System Overview According to GCF LearnFree.org, an Operating System (OS) “manages the computer's memory, processes, and all of its software and hardware. It also allows you to communicate with the computer without knowing how to speak the computer's language. Without an operating system, a computer is useless” (GCF LearnFree.org, 2015). Operating Systems (OS) allow the user to interface with the computer and make use of the many productivity tools available. The computer OS also manages and controls auxiliary equipment such as input/output devices (mouse/keyboard/monitors), and printers. Each of these allows the user to interact and communicate with the computer. Components and Functions Without an OS, a computer is a mix of hardware and applications...

Investigating an Enzyme Catalyzed Reaction

...way the potato extract was prepared effects how the enzyme with the potato will react. Therefore the results of each assay varied, suggesting there is more than one way that a catalyzed reaction can occur. Introduction: (Burmania) The main purpose for this experiment was to explore how an enzyme catalase caused a reaction to catalyze through doing various assays using potato extracts. Enzymes are catalysts that are crucial in helping to speed up reactions, and catalase is a common enzyme found in almost every living organism that is exposed to oxygen. For this experiment, potatoes were used because they were previously known to have significant catalase activity. The potato catalase was mixed with hydrogen peroxide because the catalase helps to breakdown the hydrogen peroxide which helps determine how long a paper disk takes to float to the surface, which in return provides the time of the complete reaction. Since various assays were mostly used in combination with the potato extract, the extract should aid in speeding up the reactions with the assays that it is used. With the following information, the various ways that the assays were prepared within the realm of temperature...
