...Andrew Assesment Parma lee elementary school has a diverse population of students from different backgrounds. It has Caucasians, African Americans, Asians, Native Americans among others. However, the majority of the students have a Hispanic background. The students in this school range from 3-5 years (preschool) and 6 to12 (school Age), and l noticed an equal distribution of boys and girls. Given the large population of Hispanics, some of the preschoolers with this ethnic background could not express themselves in English. However, they were helped by their peers during the screening. The screening incorporated Height and weight, blood pressure, checking hearing abilities and dental status. The preschool stage of development according to Erikson is initiative vs. Guilt. The goal of preschoolers is to acquire independence as they perform learned tasks. In other words being able undertake and accomplish tasks without interferences from care givers or their teachers. During this stage, preschoolers are learning new experiences for instance learning how to read and write, putting up puzzles, getting on a weighing scale by themselves among others. Giving them an opportunity to perform these tasks creates a sense of independence, and thus fulfilling their physical abilities successfully. Failure for preschoolers to achieve learned tasks creates a feeling of frustration leading to negative behaviors. Such behaviors include throwing objects, yelling, crying, and thus hesitating...

...addressed using the data of the second Flemish Youth Monitor. Analyses indicate that the loss of childhood innocence causes adolescents to have a more realistic evaluation of live, self and relationships. For adolescents whose ties with parents and their school environment are less tight, this can cause heightened stress in terms of lowered selfesteem and negative future prospects. These stresses, however, cannot account for the rise in delinquent activity during this developmental stage, for the analyses indicate that adolescent delinquency rather results from a more outgoing lifestyle. Finally, the idea of a prolongation of ‘storm and stress’ cannot be supported by the data, since it is found that most youth find their balance back around age 22. 1. STORM AND STRESS? The idea of adolescence being a period of ‘storm and stress’ – a perspective which was introduced by Hall (1904) and supported by the psychoanalytic tradition (Freud, 1958) and Erikson’s (1968) definition of adolescence as a time of identity crisis – was popular for most of the 20th century. In this view, adolescence is characterized as an inevitably turbulent process; accompanied by negative moods, a problematic relationship with parents and risky behavior, including delinquency...

...good business plan. A feasibility study is important because the information it gathers and presents helps people list everything they need to make a business work, develop marketing strategies to persuade an investor or bank that the business is a worthwhile investment and identify business-related problems and solutions. The project feasibility may form the basis of an important investment decision and in order to serve this objective, the document/study covers various aspects of project concept development, start-up, and production, finance and business management. 2. Project Profile The project is about starting a Day Care Center for infants and children of age up to 5. The proposed plan is to offer programs ranging from Infant Care for infants of more than 6 months of age to Kindergarten for children of age up to 5 years. 2.1 Project Brief The study provides information regarding investment opportunity for setting up a Day Care Center in Comilla City. However, such a project could also be feasible for other cities of Bangladesh but initial market research/survey would be required to identify its need. 2.2 Opportunity Rationale Day Care Center is the place where learning and fun become one and the primary place where young children learn social and pre-academic skills necessary for success in school. The Day Care’s infant program is centered on the natural curiosity and energy of very young children. Childcare programs and pre-school curriculums integrate a wealth...

It links to your achievement of the Unit Outcomes 3 and 4: 3 Collect, analyse and interpret data with respect to the domains of development. 4 Develop academic essay and report writing skills The assignment consists of clear steps which are outlined below: Gathering the data (revisit Chapter 2 for information on ethics, observation and note taking) Collect about 20 small items that can be sorted or categorised in multiple ways e.g. shells, screws / nails, buttons, pictures from a shopping catalogue or magazine etc. Select two people of different ages. A larger discrepancy (a primary school aged child and an adult; or a preschooler and an adolescent for example) will be easier for you but you may need just to work with people you have easy access to. Explain that you need to ask people of different ages to do a short activity for a university assignment. It should take a maximum of about 20 minutes. Gain their consent to participate in your study. Make sure you submit signed consent forms (see link under “Assessments”) from the participants. It is important that you learn normal research protocol, and this demands that, irrespective of whether or not the person is a family member, you would need to have them sign the consent form. A parent or guardian should sign on behalf of any persons younger than 18, and a schoolteacher does not have the authority to do this. In addition to the parent/guardian's signature...

...Introduction: Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd university is an upcoming university. With that being said, it is still in the process of improvement and setting roots to become one of the strongest universities out here. One of the ways of improvement is to have a good dining system. Sadly, the location of the university is quite far from the city and no near restaurants to make it easier for the girls to go out and have a proper meal. So, it’s a struggle for the girls of PMU to find alternative restaurants than the one that is currently provided on campus. In this study, it shows how opening Chili’s at PMU can be beneficial. Students can be more focused and productive due to having a proper meal. Chili’s is a highly known restaurant, especially in Saudi. Having chili’s on campus would make their lives easier and would look make them happier to see that the university is listening to what they wants and coming up with solutions to make all students happy. My expectation about this study is to help PMU improve their system and show them how this study can be beneficial for the university not only for the students, but also can be profitable. Literature Review During my research, I found a similar case in the University of Western Sydney when they open a restaurant in Parramatta campus. They claim that opening a restaurant on campus, it is a perfect place for corporate lunches or catching up with friends. In our case, this shows that opening a Chili’s could be very beneficial...

...The two sections of date that I picked for this assignment is gender for the qualitative data and intrinsic for quantitative data. The data selected will be discussed and analysis until a conclusion is made. For qualitative data I picked gender. I put gender because I felt that is was the best option of the two. The gender I picked was female. I picked female because I’m female. The quantitative data I picked was Intrinsic. I picked intrinsic because Of what the definition said it was which was belonging naturally. A qualitative variable is a variable without a sense of order. A qualitative variable is measured on a nominal scale. A nominal scale is a scale with no order but has some numeric values are nominal. An example nominal scale would be the data showed on the excel sheet for this assignment where male and female are showed as, 1-male and 2-female. Quantitative variables are numerical. An example of quantitative variables would be the number of people in a town which is a measurable attribute. Population is a quantitative variable. An easy way to remember the two variables is when you think of qualitative variables think or something being categorical and when you think of quantitative think of numerical. Qualitative variable The data above use qualitative variable. As stated before a qualitative variable is measured on a nominal scale. A nominal scale is a scale with no order but has some numeric values. An example nominal scale would be the data showed...

...Patricia Parker Southern New Hampshire University DIVERSITY IN AN AGING WORKFORCE 2 Abstract As American ages, so does its workforce. This means changes in the work place. Diversity has long been a part of the American culture but aging brings a new element to the work environment. This addition to diversity will challenge organizations on how they view their employees and what changes might need to take place to meet these employees' needs. It will also challenge some organizations on new types of discrimination, how to train managers on the benefits of a diverse workforce, and how to build functional work teams with both cultural and age diversity. Organizations will also be challenged to review policies, job descriptions and work practices to ensure that age is not a deterrent to success in the organization. But with these challenges also comes many benefits of an aging workforce. Understanding that older workers are typically dependable, have a broad range of knowledge, and are loyal is of benefit to any employer. In addition, as an organization's customer-base ages, having older workers that understand that customer-base may lead to a needed competitive edge. To be successful in the future, an organization will need to meet the challenges and understand the benefits of an aging workforce by being creative, flexible, and most of all diverse. DIVERSITY IN AN AGING WORKFORCE 3 Diversity in an Aging Workforce Americans are aging; in fact, according...

...diversity is about recognizing the unique contribution each employee can make to the organization. It is about creating an environment in which everyone feels valued, welcomed, and able to make an important contribution toward the attainment of corporate objectives. Additionally, companies facing challenges in competing global marketplace for market share can use diversity as "competitive advantage" in a multicultural environment with a diverse pool of talented and experienced individuals who can bring innovation and creativity to the organization. Diversity is not only associated to limited attributes that can be observed but also to those invisible characteristics such as differences in educational background, creativity, understanding, learning style, and problem-solving ability. So, organizational performances and processes can be influenced by an individual or a group representing different categories of diversity within a workplace. (van Knippenberg and Schippers, 2007). Diversity is defined as "any dimension that can be used to differentiate groups and people from one another". Hence, diversity affects...

...Workforce Diversity.Doc Final Complete Monique Rodgers — Document Transcript • 1. Workforce Diversity: How Can A Leader Manage A Diverse Workplace?Successful Workplace Diversity For ManagersMonique RodgersColorado Technical UniversityJanuary 9, 2011The dimensions of diversity include; race, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability and gender. Diversity in the workplace has an influential perspective on the atmosphere of the workplace. A diverse workplace is one that does not focus primarily on the job alone but also on the employees that work at the company. The diverse workplace is centered around bringing people together as one and working together on a common goal. At times this is not easy to do in a workplace as it creates a lot of conflict between the workers due the differences that are being displayed. For some people, is not easy to work with someone of a different gender, and for other’s it is not easy to work with another person who expresses a different religion. Then for others they cannot handle working with someone who has a different sexual orientation such lesbian, bi-sexual, or gay couples. Diversity helps to bridge the gap between the differences and helps employees to work on a level that is conducive and effective for the workplace. A manager helps to bridge the diversity gap by joining the company together to celebrate the differences that are associated amongst the employees. A manager’s role is not to necessarily accept or believe in what the employees...

...four functions of management is diversity. Diversity or demographics represents age, ethnicity, race, gender, education, skill sets, and more (Bateman & Snell, p. 53, 2011). Laws and restrictions are set in place to ensure organizations incorporate a diverse workforce to avoid discrimination and to allow for a varied group of employees who add individual skills and knowledge to business objectives. An organization can be successful if they adapt to diversity and utilize a diverse workforce in order to obtain set objectives and goals. Diversity as an internal factor can affect the four functions of management. The four functions of management include planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. Employing a diverse group of employees can be utilized in the first function of management. Planning is used by management to identify resources and make decisions about how groups or units within an organization will carry out job functions to reach organizational goals (Bateman & Snell, 2011). Resources include employees and each employee will have different educational and skill sets. Utilizing the internal factor of diversity, management can organize teams or units using a diverse set of employees. The second function of management that diversity affects is organizing. It is apparent how this function of management can be affected by diversity. By organizing employees into groups, teams, and units an organization is establishing workgroups that will be given plans...
