Facts, issues and Courts ruling Dothard v. Rawlinson, (1977) is one the known cases, which highlighted the issue of gender. In this case, it showed how women are still kept lower due to their abilities. Rawlinson applied to Alabama prison guard, but due some circumstance her application was rejected on the grounds that the candidate, neglected to meet the minimum 5’4 height and 120-pound prerequisite of an Alabama statute, the applicant decided to sue Alabama prison guard. In the court, she defined the constitutional weight and high prerequisites and an instruction building up sexual orientation standards for allocating jail watchmen to contact positions as violating of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The court concluded that the Alabama’s contention that the prerequisites have an association with power, an adequate yet unspecified measure of which is fundamental to successful occupation execution as a remedial instructor fizzled in light of the fact that they neglected to offer any confirmation in defense of the statutory principles.
