The full disclosure principle under U.S. GAAP is based on a vague definition that cannot be clearly implemented. The cost of disclosures can be significantly large and can have a negative impact on companies’ future earnings (small businesses). The purpose of this article is to examine the disclosure establishment of pre and post Enron, the effect of those disclosures on both corporations and on potential investors and to examine whether financial reporting quality improved with the passage of SOX. A total of 360 audited annual financial statements of the 500 fortune companies were selected. The paper will specifically concentrate disclosures on financial statements, Notes, supplementary (required or voluntary), and other expanded disclosures required by the SEC. Many studies show that homicides and mass shootings are slowly decreasing or leveling out, while suicides have been gradually increasing since the 90’s (Sanger-Katz, 2015, para 8). The media covers news stories involving mass shootings, homicides, and homicide-suicides, but rarely covers stories about suicide. Suicide is a well-avoided topic in America; it makes people uncomfortable to talk about mental illness. People also avoid talking about suicide on media because it brings embarrassment to the family involved and leaves a stigma that makes it harder for people with depression to ask for help (Masters, 2016, para 3-4). Not all theorists agree on the methodologies of organisational learning however, and there is little consensus about how organisations achieve both change and growth simultaneously. This paper attempts to expand the simplistic idea that organisational learning is an adaptive approach supported by individualized and stand-alone strategies of learning. The paper demonstrates how various conventions of learning can be understood as integrated learning cycles from which organisations can chart new paradigms of learning in practice. Current theories of organizational learning are imbued with their own sense of history making, clever manifestos that support a workshop or case study approach, and questionable rather than empirical validations of internally consistent phenomenon.
