...INBM 102 Assignment #2 Case Study: Distribution Agreement Shed some light Raynonplus is a small, family-owned eyewear business located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Started by Pierre Dupuis in 1952 under the name of Visionplus, the company has been exclusively owned and operated by the Dupuis family for over 50 years. Currently, the business—a sole proprietorship—is owned and managed by Gerald Dupuis, grandson of the original entrepreneur. The Dupuis’ changed the business name in 1957 to capitalize on a trend in polarized sunglasses that swept the neighbouring French speaking province of Quebec. Traditionally, Raynonplus sold a wide range of generic and brand name eyewear including prescription lenses, contact lenses, frames and sunglasses; but no proprietary goods. After Gerard took over the business in 2004, he and his fashion designer wife Dominique introduced their own brand of sunglasses under the trademarked name of Ray à Porter. Initially, the brand was marketed as an alternative to lower end or generic prescription sunglasses. The demand for these sunglasses, fueled by the bold and unconventional styles and materials used by Dominique in her original designs, soon elevated the Ray à Porter brand into designer label market status. Customers from Quebec made up a large part of the target audience, accounting for 35 percent of sales. I wear my sunglasses… in France One of Ray à Porter’s biggest customers is Quebec pop sensation Zoé, an international superstar...

...To steal the words of others… Just let me say that this weekend Bellefonte was all jazzed up…. It was the 2015 Summer Jazz Celebration. The Jazz Celebration was originally in State College until 2008 when it moved to Bellefonte. It has been growing ever since. Jazz takes a little from all the music styles and builds it into a wonderful form of jazz. A great deal of the energy, drive and passion that makes the festival happen comes from Catherine Dupuis, she grew up in Centre County and loves giving back to the community that gave her so much in the early days of her career. The Russ Kassoff trio is a big part of the celebration since the beginning. The trio is comprised of Jay Anderson on bass and Dennis Mackrel on drums and Russ on the piano. Each year there is a special guest (the master performer) who is well known in the jazz world and...

...The idea of exploring what is masculinity is an exercise mostly conducted by white, heterosexual men in North American and European societies (Blais and Dupuis-Déri, 2012), and seems to be based around the ramifications of feminism and the historic domination of women, both in public and private spheres (Petersen, 1998). Indeed, Petersen (1998) recalls that the basic assumption of the spokesmen for masculinity is that women, women’s values in general and feminist in particular, dominate men and the male identity. With men currently engaged in an identity crisis where they often depict themselves as victims of feminist struggles (Blais and Dupuis-Déri, 2012; Faludi, 1992). Often this crisis has led to warning that the feminist movement has...

...classroom teaching second-graders it is important that I offer education to my students about diversity, social justice, and equality. “Diversity, equality, and social justice are the foundation for education that is multicultural” (Johnson, Musial, Halle, Gollnick, & Dupuis, 2005). Educating myself, as a teacher must be the first thing that I do, many teachers have limited experience and knowledge about other ethnic and religious groups other than their own. As a teacher of a multicultural classroom for Happy Valley Elementary School, I have 21 students to teach, 7 are white, 5 are Latino, 4 are African American, 3 are Native American and 2 are Asian. This is great because it will allow all of the students to participate with each other and learn from each other. Due to my classroom, have 4 students with special needs and one in a wheelchair I will make activities that accommodate them as well, so that all the children can participate and not one student feeling left out. “Education that is multicultural provides equity in the curriculum, in relationships between teachers and students, in the school climate, in staffing patterns, and in relationships with parents and communities” (Johnson, Musial, Halle, Gollnick, & Dupuis, 2005). Teaching diversity in the classroom will allow the students to learn to value and respect others, teaching social justice will allow the students to “recognize how experiences are shaped by membership in groups defined by race, gender, socioeconomic status...

...require urgent and sustained mental care (Nicol, Mackay and Dupuis, 2013). A recent research established that such programs not only improves outcomes when combined with longer periods of treatment, but also with better housing facilities. This implies that there is a clear alternative to dealing with the criminalization of the mentally ill in the Canadian criminal justice system. This is the creation of a mental health courts system in Canada charged with the provision of immediate evaluation, required referral, and subsequent involvement as well as family intervention (Nicol, Mackay and Dupuis, 2013). This will aid in the recovery or assistance of the mentally ill who end up in the criminal justice system owing to factors beyond their control. There are a number of legal obstacles that delay treatment for the mentally ill who interact with the Canadian criminal justice system. First of all, mental health laws at the provincial level endorse committal in the event of violent crimes only. The only means for accessing treatment facilities for mentally criminals in Canada is being declared “not criminally responsible on account of mental disorder” (Nicol, Mackay and Dupuis, 2013). This poses another barrier for the mentally ill who are not categorized as such. Judges have limited authority to order treatment as well, and are only allowed to do so when the intention is ensuring the criminal can be tried (Nicol, Mackay and Dupuis, 2013). Consequently, there is a critical need to address...

...Abstract This paper will address issues that may arise when counseling blended families by focusing on the family dynamic system. Blended families or step-families are becoming more prevalent in the United States each year. The number of divorces has continued to rise in the United States, which has caused the rate of couples remarrying to increase as well. Blended families usually result from different life circumstances such, as past relationships, divorces, deaths, and separations. At times blended families are faced with many challenges, and these challenges can cause significant problems within the new relationships. Some of the problems are due to different parenting styles. Children are having to readjust to a new lifestyle and getting along with stepparents or siblings can put an obstacle into the new relationship. Family counseling provides blended families with an opportunity and a platform for voicing their feelings and learning ways to accommodate each other within the family. Keywords: Blended families, counseling, divorce, remarriage, children, separation, parenting style, step-siblings, and widowing. Blended Family Counseling Introduction Blended families are becoming accepted in today’s society, and many families are merging together as one. Gonzales (2009) defined blended family as two couples coming together into a new relationship with one or more children from a previous relationship. Customarily, the primary family structure consisted of a two-parent...

...which are identified as special needs, one of whom is in a wheel chair, and few of my students come from the poorest neighborhood in Happy Valley, I would incorporate different types of activities in my class room that would support a multicultural education. These activities include, “Comparing Cultures”, and “Rain”. Every teacher should believe that every child, no matter what their background maybe, can learn. Multicultural education is an “Educational strategy that incorporates the teaching of students from diverse backgrounds, human relations, and the study of ethnic and other cultural groups in a school environment and that supports diversity and equity” (James A. Johnson, Diann Musial, Gene E. Hall, Donna M. Gollnick, Victor L. Dupuis, 2005). One of my stategies that I found intersting is the Comparing Cultures activity. Mycheal Willon (1994) discusses in the Comapring cultures, the teacher should have the class read or watch the movie Cinderella in the class room. Then, brings another version of Cinderella which is the Shirley Clome’s, the Egyption version. To read the story in a book or have them watch the movie are both appropiate. Mycael Willon (1994) also discusses that after reviewing both versions, the teacher uses “cooperative learning strategy Think-Pair-Share (TPS)” (para, 5). In the strategy, the teacher would ask the children to find a partner and hold up his or her hand. After wards the teacher...

...Company Background Aeroplan is a leading partnership loyalty program situated in Canada, and is owned by Groupe Aeroplan Inc. It is the prominent loyalty management organization in the world. The head offices for Aeroplan are situated in Montreal, Toronto. It also has two call centers, one in Vancouver and the other in Montreal. Aeroplan started as a promotional tool for business travelers for Air Canada in 1984. After a period of one year, the organization had amassed about 100,000 regular flyers. In 2004, Aeroplan adopted its own identity separate from Air Canada, and it emerged as the leading loyalty initiative in Canada (Boer & Gudmundsson, 2012). In 2008, Aeroplan converted its Income Fund to growth oriented, which is a worldwide loyalty management organization referred to as Groupe Aeroplan Inc. In 2009, Air Canada transferred its Vancouver and Montreal call hubs to Aeroplan. This move made approximately 800 agents who were affiliated with the CAW Union to join around 350 employees who used to serve as administrative staff at Aeroplan. As a result, the company was forced to adopt a key culture change in order to cope with the workers who previously worked for Air Canada. Presently, Aeroplan has around 4 million members who are awarded air miles based on the widening network that comprises of about 150 brands in the retail, financial and travel industries (Boer & Gudmundsson, 2012). The mission for Aeroplan is to stimulate the loyalty of its associates and partners,...

...encourage one-on-one educational interactions, they ensure the safety and well-being of each kid. More eyes on the class allows fewer problems to occur. That is just one of the major reasons parents are in favor of the Bruin Buddies program, being that there are so many older students to encourage learning and growth, and at the same time security. Taking away the Bruin Buddies program would be a disservice to the local community and families attending/planning to attend the program, and needs to be reconsidered. Those in the GBSD and SBHS not in favor of keeping the child development program after renovations say that it would be too difficult to find a replacement teacher for the program once the current director, Lorena Dupuis, retires in the next few years. Dupuis not only teaches the preschool class and high school class at the same time, but also is in charge of teaching the foods class and family living. While it is true that finding a replacement with the exact same qualifications could be difficult, that is in no way a solid reason for closing down a successful learning facility to both future and current GBSD students. According to preschoolteacher.org, the requirements needed to obtain the job would be to earn at minimum a bachelor's degree in education, and family consumer sciences. Fortunately for Oregon students, Oregon State University offers a dual credit earning program. While majoring in an Education degree, OSU students are able to pick a sub degree of education,...
