Introduction

In this section, I will be identifying the sector that my care setting is based and describing work that happens in this sector and care setting. In addition to this, i will also describe the clients that use the service.
The sector that I have chosen to write about is a non-statutory setting in which the client group are children aged 6 weeks to 5 years old.
Hopscotch nursery that belongs to the children and young people’s sector is a children’s nursery that cares for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years old. The nursery is a small, local day care centre where children go to prepare them for full time school. Their service is registered to take up to 12 babies and toddlers and up to 30 children. Their “tiddlywinks” baby room is designed to safeguard babies from older children whilst allowing them to free flow and explore and develop. The “skittles” room designed for children allows them to express creativity, mark making, construction, home-corner and communication. In nurseries they provide children with pre-school experiences such as art, craft and construction activities, sand and water play, adventure play, music and movement, books and stories, as well as the opportunity to socialise with other children. They provide a stable, secure and relaxed environment where parents feel satisfied to leave their children. Parents have to pay for their children to come here as it is privately run
In the nursery, each child is allocated a keyworker. The role of the keyworker is to greet you and your child at the beginning of your child's session and to help your child settle in to the nursery. They will be a constant figure in your child’s time at the nursery, building a bond with the child and their parent. The child’s key worker is also responsible for the child’s learning journey.
