In the essay “Reinventing America Call for a New National Identity”, Elizabeth Martinez discusses the history of America, but decides to point out the fact that white people have been putting themselves in the light of glorification. Martinez states that myths are what identifies us as a nation, “… narratives can be called myths because they usually present only the most flattering view of the nation’s history…” Martinez may be trying to say that myths are not always reliable because people sometimes just want us to see the sides that will benefits them in the end.
