People all across the world wonder how these Native Americans lived, how their tribes worked, and where they came from. There are many different tribes all across the world. The one I am going to talk about is the Elk Valley Rancheria Tribe. There are many different and unique things about this tribe. Many people do not know that Rancheria is a spanish term that means a small Indian reservation. Elk Valley Rancheria is located in Tolowa ancestral territory, which is close to Yurok lands. This tribe was founded after the Landless California Indians Act of 1906 as a reserved land for homeless Indians (Helms 1). This tribe was reorganized in 1994 after Tillie Hardwick filed a suit, which resulted in the federal government recognizing the 17 ranches,
