Some researchers propose that emotional intelligence can be conditioned and strengthened, while others argue it is an intrinsic characteristic. Since 1990, Peter Salovey and John D. Mayer were the principle researchers on emotional intelligence. In their influential article "Emotional Intelligence" in the journal: Imagination, Cognition, and Personality.
