...Narrative Essay A Trip I’d Like To Take I’ve always thought that traveling is so spontaneous, adventurous, and life changing. To me, it just means that we get the opportunity to discover and learn new things that other places have to offer. Considering this, I have tried to be content with the places I’ve traveled throughout my life; Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, New York etc. Recently I started to think about escalating my travels to new locations. And, to start with, I attempted to figure out where I wanted to start. While traveling to the places I have, I discovered that perhaps the most irritating aspect for me was that all these places are cliché, “Niagara Falls”, “The Islands”, and “The Big Apple”. I told myself, “The next place I travel will be the exact opposite of cliché”. I crave change; I was thinking maybe Spain. I enjoy conversing in the Spanish language, the culture, the food, and not to mention the people. Since I’m extremely attracted to what Spain has to offer, I hope to plan on starting my traveling journey there. From my early childhood, I was raised in a Caribbean/Spanish atmosphere, so I speak both of the languages and have always enjoyed the music. When I was brainstorming where I’d start my first adventure, it was no surprise I desired Spain. In this essay Rhode states that workers have been discriminated based on their attractiveness, also individuals seeking employment have also been declined a job or have been given a job based of their looks. In the essay Rhode argues that there should be a law established in the United States that is against looks discrimination. According to Rhode, the United States has made many laws in the past years to protect groups of people that are being discriminated based on sex, religion, race, or disability, yet there is no official law protecting employees that are being discriminated on their looks. Since there is no law that protects a person from this kind of discrimination, it is allowing corporations to discriminate an employment seeker, or a current employee based on his or her appearance. Specifically in my spring semester of college when I began to take the class of English Composition 1. Taught by the brilliant and marvelous Ms. Ravick, English Comp. 1 was by far my toughest class of the semester. Throughout my semester of English Comp. 1 I have gain the enjoyment of writing essays, coming up with my own ideas, and stop repeating my writing when I write essays. Coming into English 101 freshman year was something that I was kinda afraid of. In high school English class never served as my strong point and I found myself constantly frustrated and confused as to why I never got the grade I felt I deserved. I would write essays to get it over with, using other people’s thoughts and ideas to support my less important thoughts and ideas about the subject. I never felt connected with any papers that I was asked to write and it showed, so coming into college being forced to do it all over again was definitely something I feared and something I wanted to get over with, but now I find myself enjoying writing. I have always written freely or on my own, but I find myself now able to sit down and enjoy writing an essay again. I enjoy the process of coming up with my own ideas and concepts and trying to make an argument for my reader so they can also take my side in that argument. When you find all these different articles or facts off the Internet or textbooks we students can sometimes put too much information in our papers and not have enough sited sources. Often times the cluttering of essay and point can side track or even confuse the reader. Ketteler points out that it also contains underlying messages such as “uplift”, “waste no time”, and “live your life to the fullest”. Despite the optimistic view, Ketteler also shows a more serious side to the poem that talks about death and decay, very much like “cycle of life.” She talks about the blend of idea of Christianity and Paganism ritual. My family and I have owned many pets. We currently have two dogs, and two cats. Phoebe is a Yellow Lab with short blonde hair, and Lizzie is a Black Lab with short black hair. Most dogs shed, but there are some breeds that shed remarkably little, or not at all. Brushing a dog’s coat will cut down on the amount of hair on the furniture, and floors. We adopted our two cats from an animal shelter. Shockte has short white hair, and Izzy has long gray hair. Cats are easier to take care of than dogs due to their self-grooming habits; therefore, they do not need baths regularly. The only problem is they do get hairballs that can lead to health problems.
