Eric Blehm’s Fearless is a book describing the life events and character of the hero named Adam Brown, a soldier who was part of SEAL Team Six, one of the most highly skilled military teams ever created. Brown’s life took him through the heart of some of the most terrifying and difficult events, ranging from hardcore drug addiction to being surrounded by terrorists trying desperately to kill him. He became the living definition of the word fearless, a word that many people today take for granted. As Brown demonstrates, to truly be fearless is to be unwaveringly courageous, impeccably focused, and absolutely committed in the face of death itself.
Insurmountable courage is an undeniable prerequisite for fearlessness; it is perhaps the most clearly displayed aspect of such a person. Brown reflected this courage in his every action. The book mentions this focus and shows its significance numerous times. As Kelley said in the book, “Those three weeks before he left for boot camp, there was something different about Adam...There was an intensity. A focus.” (Blehm 100) When Kelley announced to Brown that she was pregnant in the middle of him training in BUD/S to become a Navy SEAL, it did not discourage him. Rather, it made him even more focused to succeed; “Okay, this just makes it even more important...I have to get through BUD/S,” he said after hearing the news (Blehm 111).
