Used primarily in the ambulatory setting and clinics within correctional facilities. ERMA was primary created, and copyright protected for Correct Care Solutions in 2011 and since has been implemented in over two hundred correctional facilities. In 2013, the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center underwent a change of contract, this meant that their medical department was no longer ran by Correctional Health Care, and as such was no longer privy to their current electronic health record Vizion. The conversion from Vizion to ERMA would end up taking almost 2 full years to be put into full effect. The program implementation was meant with many challenges, these included both legalities and overall functionality. ...Children these days are being raised in a sheltered environment that Walt Disney would disapprove of. Walt Disney said that children should experience life; however children are being sheltered with a “no best friend policy” in schools and an “everyone's a winner” mentality. Unlike adults today, Rex and Rose Walls followed Disney’s policy with their children--Lori, Jeannette, Brian, and Maureen--but in the worst way possible. Jeannette Walls’ The Glass Castle, is a memoir that describes the abuse that Walls and her siblings endured. The parents let their children experience life, but by putting them in harm’s way; such as, Jeannette Walls burning herself at three-years-old, Rex Walls taking Jeannette Walls to a bar, and letting Erma Walls molest Brian Walls....

...Deciding which way to start up a business is often a very difficult decision. The pros and cons of each choice must be considered before a decision can be made. First, Betty must decide whether to operate her new business as part of a franchise or not. She has already had offers from franchises that offered to provide her and her staff with any training needed. Other potential benefits from operating as a franchise include a proven recipe for success and access to financing if needed (Wilmington Trust). Some of the disadvantages of operating under a franchise include a lack of independence and a high initial investment (Wilmington Trust). Another option for Betty would be a sole proprietorship. The advantage of this would be that there would be very few rules and regulations that she would have to abide by in regards to the government (Scott, Demand Media). The disadvantage would be that Betty would have very little liability protection (Scott, Demand Media). The risk of her getting sued and losing her assets is much greater with this type of business structure. Another option for Betty would be to open a partnership. The partnership is great as far as ease and simplicity for filing taxes and other legal documents, however, there is very little liability protection in this type of business entity as well (boundless.com). Betty could operate as a corporation and have protection against her personal assets; however, operating as a corporation requires more complicated...

...Starting and Naming a Business Betty, a Christian individual, is considering the option to open a Christian coffeehouse. Her husband will help fund the business, however; he has no desire to participate in the running of the business. Betty’s sister, who is also Christian would like to have a part in the business, however; she and her husband do not see eye to eye on this matter and wants her to have no part of it. Erma, Betty’s non-Christian neighbor is also interested in helping with the business and feels that the “Christian thing” is the way to go. Betty has decisions to make as to whom will be involved in this venture with her, how much control will placed to whom and how she will go about starting the business. She will have to weigh her pros and cons for the types of business forms available to her to determine which one is the best fit for her. She will also need to determine the amount of the contribution her husband is willing to make as this will help her make a determination as to which business form may suit her needs. A sole proprietorship, a partnership, a limited liability corporation and a franchise are just a few of the types of business organizations available to research prior to opening a new business. Betty must carefully evaluate each of these options prior to making a decision on which one is the best option for her. A sole proprietorship is an organizational form in which the individual has complete control...

...A.) The Walls siblings show loyalty to each other by keeping close ties as well as encouraging one another. They always have each others backs and are very loyal in many different situations throughout their life. I think that overall they have a very close relationship and that is why they get along with one another as well as protecting each other. A great example from the reading for this journal entry is when Jeanette tells Erma that she is a pervert. “Lori gave me a hug when she heard I told off Erma” (Walls 143). Another instance that describes the sibling’s loyalty to one another occurred in Battle Mountain when Billy was persistently bugging Jeanette about being his girlfriend. I thought it was neat when the siblings tagged together after Billy made a scene while shooting Jeanette with a bb gun when she refused to be his girlfriend as well as doing things with him. “‘I told you you’d be sorry,’ Billy said to me and pulled the trigger. It felt like a...

PAGE 85-87 Afterward Jeanette was reluctant to tell her father, “I had a feeling it would cause problems” (Walls 87) The second assault Walls documents, was when she was nine years old. “I was awakened by someone running his hands over my private parts.” “‘I just want to play a game with you’ a man’s voice said.” The next day when they told their father, “he said he was going to kill that low life…” Although, no serious action was taken to find him or prevent it from happening again. (Walls 103) The third offense took place while Jeanette and her siblings are under the supervision of Erma, their Father’s mother, while parents took a trip back to Phoenix, AZ. Erma, being an alcoholic had been drinking all morning on the day of the assault, told Brian they he needed his pants hemmed and demanded him into their grandfather’s bedroom. Jeanette claimed to hear her brother protesting...

...Starting a small business can be very rewarding. A small business can provide flexibility to make time for family or other commitments and interests. It also gives a sense of independence both personally and professionally. A person’s success or failure is of their own merits. But it does not come without its challenges. For starters, you are your own motivator, IT department and finance department. No overtime pay for the countless long hours or in many cases zero benefits. Betty has some tough decisions to make. She needs to decide what form of business would be best for her business, then she needs to determine who, if anyone, will help her run the business and lastly decide if the name she has chosen is suitable. Betty must first decide what business form would be suitable for the coffee house. There are many forms of business entities to choose. Since this is a small business a Public Corporation, Subchapter S Corporation, Closely Held Corporation, Multinational Corporation, Limited Partnership, General Partnership, and Professional Corporation can all be eliminated. Some possibilities for Betty’s business might be. A sole proprietorship is the easiest and least expensive way to create a business organization (Kubasek, Brennan, & Browne, 2012). The LLC or Limited Liability Company provides the advantages of a corporation with the tax efficiencies and flexibility of a partnership (Starting & Managing a Business, 2012). Franchises are relationships based on...

...He found refuge in literature, developing interests in fiction and poetry. After graduating from high school, he attended Wayne State University (known as Detroit City College at the time). He left college in 1936 to begin working for the Federal Writers’ Project. In this post, Hayden spent time researching African-American history and folk life—subjects that would inspire and inform his poetic work. Hayden remained with the Federal Writers' Project for two years. He spent the following years crafting his first volume of poetry, Heart-Shape in the Dust. The book was published in 1940. The same year, Hayden married Erma Inez Morris. Hayden converted to his wife’s religion—the Baha’i faith—shortly after their marriage. His beliefs influenced much of his work, and he helped to publicize the little-known...

...This problem could be related to many reasons, especially the style in which the perspective parents were raised. This could lead to an unfortunate and bad home for children, which could result in the child being taken away or having a loss of self-worth or low self-esteem. Resulting in the child growing up to be a bad parent, and the cycle starts over again. This can be seen in the book when the kids are relating Erma trying to molest Brian to the way Rex acts and is. "Do you think Erma ever [molested] dad?... It would make a lot of sense to his [alcoholism and anger]"(Wall). This proves that if a child has parents who don't know how to be good parents. The child could end up in a world of anger, frustration, depression and or coping mechanisms such as alcoholism. To prevent this sort of behavior, there should be parental licensing. People may wonder how to get this particular type of license. All perspective parents should go to a...

... I would take great pleasure just laying on it at night and feeling the cool breeze blow through my hair while I would stare up into the dark sky and just watch the twinkling stars. Sometimes we would even stay up late at night to play cops and robbers in the dark, it's such an entertaining game to play with so many kids. We had bikes and what seemed like never ending concrete paths throughout the yard to ride on. We had gardens and lots of fruit trees. We had brown chickens that would lay the most beautiful green eggs, ducks that would hatch precious yellow ducklings, turkeys that would gobble back at you if you gobbled at them or made any kind of roaring sound, soft, wooly lambs, a grey cat with velvety smooth fur, and a dog named Erma. Erma was a pure Border Collie dog. We taught her how to sit, shake our hands and roll over. She was brilliant, wise, and protective of us. If any of the children ever got hurt she would curl up by the distraught child and stay with them until they were content again. We liked to trick her sometimes too. We would go on the swings until we felt like we were soaring as high as the planes and then jump out of the swing and pretend we fell out. She would come running and nuzzle her wet nose on your...

...The History of Computers http://inventors.about.com/library/blcoindex.htm "Who invented the computer?" is not a question with a simple answer. The real answer is that many inventors contributed to the history of computers and that a computer is a complex piece of machinery made up of many parts, each of which can be considered a separate invention. This series covers many of the major milestones in computer history (but not all of them) with a concentration on the history of personal home computers.
