Ernest McSorley the captain of the Edmund Fitzgerald, had nothing to do with the sinking of his ship he did what was in his control and could not beat the weather on a bad night. He was a good honest hard working man that lived a rough life on the lakes moving from ship to ship and being away from home most of his life.
