Is Thomas Jefferson a man to respect or a man to be ashamed of? Does the past matter at the present time? After reading both articles and accumulating information I have come to a conclusion. Author Paul Finkelman grabbed my attention more so than the other; his work went into greater detail to influence his claims. When Paul Finkelman said “concerned that slavery leads to despotism by the masters; but he never expressed regret for the mistreatment of the slave.” That was a excellent evidence giving true depth on Thomas Jefferson’s true beliefs. Therefore I do not agree with author Douglas L. Wilson’s article, he does not touch on all points.
