Euthanasia

In this paper I will argue that Rachel’s first argument about active and passive euthanasia being morally on a par is true. By granting someone to die (if they are suffering and death is inevitable) you are letting him or her choose their own path. However active euthanasia should be an option for everyone to choose, if they are in this situation. When you know you are going to die soon and you are suffering why not be able to choose to end life quick with ease. The recent news story with the twenty nine year old Brittany Maynard who had chosen to die on November 1st 2014 shows a type of active euthanasia in which she is committing it herself. The way she did it was purposely over dosing on medication provided by a doctor. This form of euthanasia would probably be considered active euthanasia, but she is taking matters into her own hands. This leaves the question of is her doctor prescribing the medication (who is aware of her plan) morally responsible for her passing. There has been much debate about this and in my opinion he is not. Because nobody is putting someone down, but they are giving the option to people to put themselves down. The question of is active euthanasia wrong the answer is no. people need to accept the fact that if a person has chosen something it is their choice and nobody should have a say in it. This is a very hard thing to accept especially to friends and family; but all their worries and sadness should be put at ease because if they really care about you then they should let you be happy, and not argue against your will to end life with no more pain.
Another concern people have is if the patient is in a vegetative state and cannot choose for him or herself. If that is the case then a close friend or family member should have the decision to put them down. Because someone who knows you best would probably have the best idea

Euthinasia

...Erica Watson Mr. Bono English 6-7 6 December 2010 Euthanasia in the 1930’s Euthanasia: one of the biggest health controversies talked about for decades always has people judging and debating. Many people have different opinions and beliefs on the topic. From my knowledge, I understand that euthanasia is “the action of killing an individual for reasons considered to be Merciful” (Studyworld.com). Too many questions come to mind when I think of euthanasia. When do you decide to kill the patient? Does the patient agree to this? Is euthanasia legal? In the research that I did, I quickly educated myself on this topic. In the 1930’s many people didn’t know how to grasp the thought of euthanasia. Not too many were educated on it and just considered it suicide. In the United States, euthanasia has never officially been legal. “Medical practitioners opposed the idea of euthanasia and strongly claimed it to be illegal” (Buzzle.com). But, around this time period, the Nazi’s believed in involuntary euthanasia. They were determined to “eliminate the unhealthy members of society through euthanasia” (caae.phil.cmu.edu). Although euthanasia is illegal; “Physician aid-in-dying (PAD) is legal in the states of Washington, Oregon and Montana” (wikipedia.org). The difference between the two is that “Euthanasia entails the physician or another third party administering the medication, whereas PAD requires the patient to self-administer the medication and to determine...
