...Bottled Water Market Penetration Name Institution Bottled Water Market Penetration Introduction The demand for bottles water has grown tremendously owing to its increased popularity. The industry has been growing at an average rate of 20% per year (Gleick, 2010, p. 15). Demand has grown over 500% in the last decade and a half. In the United States there is a demand of 79 liters of bottles water per person in a year, which has resulted in the sale of up to 30 billion in the sale of the product (Gleick, 2010, p. 17). This has been driven by increased population and the decreased quality of water supplies from the public mains. People have feared for their health and thus have opted for bottles water that is more purified and fresh. The consumption of bottled water in the United States fell in 2008 to 30 billion bottles compared to 2007 (Clarke et al, 2009, p. 28). Bottles water faces stiff competition from other beverages such as sodas. It is thus important that companies to reposition the product in order to get back to the positive growth trend. Repositioned Target Market The market for bottled water is quite large as water is a commodity that is essential to life. Bottled water may face competition from soft drinks and supplies from local authorities. Manufacturers of the product (bottled water) have used various methods in segmenting the market and obtaining potential targets. For instance, coca cola the manufacturer of Dasani, and Nestle have targeted...

...Short and long-term goals help me learn to push myself and have perseverance. By doing these exercises I improved many dimensions of wellness. I improved my physical wellness by giving my body exercise. This helps my body function properly by gaining muscle and maintaining a healthy balance between activity and caloric intake. My heart is also a muscle, and by exercising I kept a healthy heart. I improved my emotional wellness because I know that exercise releases endorphins and dopamine in the brain, which are chemicals that fight stress and improve your mood. By exercising more I released more of these chemicals which made me happier and improved my emotional health. I also improved my intellectual wellness because exercise gives your brain a break which allows it to focus better later. Studies show that exercising can help improve your memory, and endorphins you release when exercising can also help the brain become more alert and focused. This means that when I took a break from sitting around in school all day and doing my homework to exercise, I was able to focus better on my homework afterwards. This helped me in school and it helped my learning. I can use this information to be successful in the future because if I know the benefits of having a goal, plan, and positive mindset then I will be able to accomplish...

...Vincent Marziano MUS 361U Dr. Bluestone 5/16/2013 841 words #20 Bob Dylan Highway 61 Revisited Can words describe the amount of sound that came out the speakers after playing Bob Dylan’s Highway 61 Revisited? The many sounds that make up this remarkable piece of what one could only describe as artwork is a phenomenal mix of instruments and vocals to produce a sound that is of no other. Dylan combines everything from a simple harmonica (which he makes sound anything but simple) all the way up to electric guitars, drums, acoustics, tambourines, banjos and even what sounds to be like a Kazoo in track 7! His background falls under influences coming from the blues with an emphasis on delta blues, and a strong country back ground as well. He ties these older sounds together with the new sounds of today’s rock and roll to create even flowing and cohesive piece of work. His music is made for the youth and even in a time when folk and country music is something we would relate to our parents, his music brings out a young vibrantness that no person, old or young, could ignore. His overall CD encompasses many mixed emotions. Dylan seems to incorporate personal stories of his own life along with random stories which when combined produce songs of happiness as well as desperation to the modern world. His CD doesn’t carry a main story line, and in fact really sounds like a mix of random feelings and emotions that he kind of slapped together into one cohesive motion. His first...

...Health and Exercise Introduction Health is a big and many-sided area of human life as well as exercising is very important to a person’s health. I think that among all questions related to the human's body, the health must overcome all other aspects and become the main reference point for finding the answers. Exercising also gently improves your health, improve your quality of life, and reducing the feelings of depression and anxiety. Although impossible to have a clear awareness and good impact in your academic life without being healthy. This research was important to us because we are students at Georgetown university, and health and exercise has influence in our academic performance. In addition, The questions covered topics such as exercising, having breakfast before class, taking vitamins, drinking coffee, and methods used to balance their daily diet in the exam periods. The open-ended question was designed to bring out responses in greater detail about their diet balance in the exam periods. Our team had generated a number of hypotheses before conducting the interviews and the surveys. We predicted different answers from both genders, and also expected certain answers from people who are under and above 21. We thought that asking people at the gym would give us different perspectives than those who were not at the gym. Regarding time, we did not expect any highlighted differences in the responses that we accumulated in the morning and those which were accumulated in...

...Fitness Components Fitness components are the building blocks of exercise and physical activity they are the qualities that athletes must develop to prepare physically for competition.Sports training programs are designed to build fitness components into appropriate proportions to match each specific sporting activity. Body composition is the distribution of muscle and fat in the body, its measurement is important in sports and health. Excess body fat may lead to obesity and increases the risk of getting many diseases. In sports if someone has excess fat it can lead to poor performance as it does not contribute to muscular force production, and it is extra weight that the body needs more energy to move about Body composition is often described as a two compartment system; lean body weight and fat weight. The fat weight is then expressed as a percentage of total body weight, where percent body fat = (fat weight / total body weight) x 100. Taking skinfold measurements is a common method for determining body fat composition. Accurate measurement technique is important. Here is the standard technique that is used. You should read this information in conjunction with the description of each of the standard measurement sites. * equipment: skinfold calipers, tape measure * procedure: Estimation of body fat by skinfold thickness measurement. Measurement can use from 3 to 9 different standard anatomical sites around the body. The right side is usually only measured (for consistency)...

...training facilities, attitude of stakeholders and participants, and group social activities. I also tried to note differences between male and female coaches, officials and managers in terms of behavior toward women athletes, and the motivations of participants to play sports. Passive participation occurred on different days and time ranging from 4:00 pm- 7:00 pm on game days and from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm on training days. 3.5.2.2.4 Moderate Participation After passive participation, I had a rough idea of the things I needed to do to participate. I got my game apparel and gear. In the initial stages, I psychologically psyched myself up and then started to act as a moderate participant. Moderate participation occurs, according to Spradley (1980:61), “when the ethnographer seeks to maintain a balance between being an insider and an outsider between participation and observation.” I participated and observed participants in order to get their emic perspective in relation to my etic perspective toward what inspires participants to take part in sports. Initially, I was overwhelmed by both being new to the team and do to the fact that I had not played volleyball for several years. I was in pretty bad shape. From relevant previous experience, I knew I had to be very careful to avoid injuries and complete breakdown. I played it safe and cautiously because I did not want to truncate or miss any minute of the fieldwork. With time, I got better conditioned, and at that point I became an active...

...exactly the practice began. A review of various literature insinuates that in ancient times people’s desire for health, need for self understanding and long life gave birth to yoga, a mental and physical exercise which has ever since spread to many parts of the world. What Yoga is The word ‘yoga’ essentially means to yoke or join together’ and thus the exercise is meant to harmonize the functions of the mind and body and result to an individual’s general well being and wellness (Monro, 1997, 215-21). The yoga system is built and supported by meditation, simple postural exercises, relaxation and breathing practices. Yoga exercises are designed and developed to appropriately put pressure or strain on the body’s glandular systems consequently increasing their efficiency and an individual’s total health. The body on the other hand is perceived as the primary instrument that allows people to evolve and work and therefore the yoga student is required to treat it with immense respect and care. The breathing techniques are supported by the assertion that breath is unarguably the source and basis of life for the human body. Therefore breathing practices and control is imperative to improve and enhance the mind and body functioning. Generally breathing and exercises that are inbuilt in yoga are meant to prepare the mind and body for meditation. As a result the student learns how to attain ‘a quiet mind, inner peace and silence’ which paves way for healing and...

...through physical and mental exercise and deep relaxation. Although known to be at least 5,000 years old, yoga is not a religion and fits well with any individual's religious or spiritual practice. Anyone of any age, religion or life condition can practice yoga and derive its benefits. Yoga is the practice of putting the body into different postures while maintaining controlled breathing. It is considered to be a discipline that challenges and calms the body, the mind, and the spirit. By focusing on the breath entering and leaving your body, you are performing an exercise in concentration. After learning the history and practicing the throughout this fall semester, I have a new found respect and outlook for yoga. I would like to share with you an experience my family and I had to endure and probably how I was lead to signing up for this class. I come from a very close-knit family and, as such, all my life, so far, my cousin has always been more like a sister to me. We had children at the same time and always remained close. Last fall her son, Mikey was diagnosed with cancer. I can't even begin to describe the overwhelming devastation and complete sadness this brought to our family. My cousin was on an emotional roller coaster, and I can remember asking her how she stays so strong and how she got through all the treatments and still kept it together---- her response was "yoga"....I was somewhat skeptical--- thinking to myself that an exercise, i.e., yoga, would aid in the...

...Running head: Assignment 2 – Employing Strategy in a Competitive Environment - Fitness Connection Assignment 2 – Employing Strategy in a Competitive Environment - Fitness Connection Sample Student Strategic Management BUS 599, Winter 2013 Dr. Ingrid Wright February 3, 2013 Abstract As a business professional in the physical fitness industry, I have created an environmental scan for Fitness Connection in order for them to assess the threats and implement a plan of action to ensure that the impact is minimal. The components of the environmental scan are comprised of information addressing the following: 1) Create an environmental scan for the company indicating the most significant environmental threats and discuss how the company should respond to each threat to ensure that the impact to the business is minimal. 2) Based on the environmental scan, evaluate the company’s strengths and evaluate how the company can leverage these strengths so as to yield a competitive advantage in the marketplace. 3) Identify a significant competitor for the company and assess how your company will compete against it to maximize profits and create value for stakeholders. 4) Assume that the U.S. economy is in a state of decline requiring modifications to the strategy. Evaluate how the strategy should be modified. Provide a justification of how this will help the company continue to compete in the marketplace. 5) Evaluate how global competition may impact the business strategy and determine...

...and scientists have always favored preventive measures to avoid the conditions which result in undergoing a rigorous treatment. In this view physical activity or fitness training programs have been found having significant effects in the prevention of strokes as well as at post care stage as treatment and a measure of rehabilitation in survivors of cardiac arrests. Further, it has been noted in recently conducted studies that quite a remarkable evidences are discovered in favor of physical activity as therapeutic as well as rehabilitative in nature. Organized physical activity in the form of exercise, tailor made programs according to the needs of the patients at post care stage and fitness training exercise therapy have been found considerably helpful in rehabilitation in the survivors of stroke. In addition, further research is proposed to explore the different types of organized exercise programs according to the physical and mental conditions of survivors and as preventive measures among them. Physical Activity in the Prevention and Treatment of Stroke Cardiac arrest is a one of the growing and leading causes of death around the globe. According to available data, more than 130,000 people suffer from heart attack, from mild to severe strokes, every year, (SIGN, 2008). One cannot ignore preventive measures; however, once a person goes through a severe form of arrest, he needs post...
