Florentiy Lvovich Florentiy Lvovich was born on the 10th of June 1939 in Moscow, Russia. His father was one of the first Soviet engineers, working in a textile factory as one of the most important engineers who worked there. His father died in 1961 in Moscow. His mother also worked as an engineer in the same textile factory where her husband worked. She died in 1984 in Moscow. Florentiy had 3 brothers and 1 sister. His oldest brother, who was 14 years older than Florentiy, served in the Second World War as an artillery officer in Manchuria, China fighting the Japanese. He was awarded many medals for his bravery in battle and for how he served his country. He passed away last year in Moscow. Florentiy's other brother who was two years older than him, worked as an economist in one of Moscow's technology institute's. Florentiy's brother passed away last year because of cancer. Lastly, his sister who is two years older than him and still living, graduated from the 1st Medicinal Institute in Moscow and worked as a brain doctor.…show more content… Like always, there were many ups and downs. Because of Florentiy’s father's position in the textile mill, he was awarded a large apartment. His father bought a small house, 27 km north of Moscow, where they spent every summer. During WW II Florentiy's family were taken east of the Volga River to safety, while his father still kept working in the textile mill. His family was allowed to return back to home to Moscow in 1944 after the Russians pushed the German army back to Berlin. The army eventually captured Berlin and the Nazi's signed the surrender on May 9, 1945 called "День Победы". In America, this date is May 8, 1945 and it is called Victory Day in Europe. Florentiy does not have that great of a memory of this time because he was only 4-5 years
