While this is a big help when the neighborhoods are actually active with their watch, it isn’t really enough. The easiest way to get help in preventing crime IS through neighborhoods but there needs to be more done within them. The best way to reach those smaller communities would be to actually involve kids. This can be done by involving them in meetings, (trying to keep them interesting of course) and encouraging them to always to speak up even if they aren’t sure. The organization Just Give also gives the idea to always make sure there are productive ways to spend their freetime. This doesn’t just go for younger children, but teens and young adults as well. As teenagers enter young adulthood there seems to be less and less to do which can lead to them doing illegal things ranging from petty crime to actual major crimes.
