The Romans were one of the best builders and architects of their time._ One of their greatest feats is how they revolutionized transportation for the next hundreds of years._ The roads that they built were mainly made for the military, but eventually, they made transportations in the country so easy, that the public started to use it as well._ Although other countries (including Rome) had dirt pathways that they used, Rome made traveling easy by building it with a new method; there were four different layers in the roads, the first was hard stone, then they put in concrete, (another of Rome’s great accomplishments,) then the last layer was little pebbles or more medium-small rocks._ The idea spread so fast that many of them are still to be found from Carthage to Parthia, to Britain. These roads were built with such great quality that many of them are still being used today.
_ While these roads were good transportation and the military, many people took these roads to see great fights and see man show their skills in the famous Roman coliseum._ The coliseum remains to this day one of the greatest architectural figures of all time._ This circle-shaped arena was home to thousands of fights and shows._ Gladiators would face each other or even animals and kill to the crowd’s delight._ The stadium was built at the beginning of emperor Vespasian’s reign, in 70 C.E._ It holds a amazing capacity of over 50,000 people._ The coliseum was attached to underground cages that would hold animals and people right before a fight; they would come out of the ground and face their opponent._ All this shows how smart and advanced the Romans were, that they could give something to the world that we still use today.
