The book “If I Stay” by Gayle Forman is about a teenage girl, Mia. The story starts off in small town near Portland, Oregon. Since, it was the middle of winter there was snow on the roads causing school to be canceled. Her parents then decided to drive over a couple towns to see her grandparents. On the way to their grandparents house, they got in a terrible car accident. Due to the crash Mia’s parents had passed away and Mia and her brother, Teddy, were rushed to the hospital. Mia was still alive but hanging on by a thread which caused her to be stuck between the living and dead, limbo. Helpless, Mia could see everything but physically do nothing. When she reached the hospital, one of her many nurses whispers to her that it is her choice
