Gm Foods Persuasive Essay

In the past four decades, genetically modified foods, also known as GMOs, have been used successfully worldwide. There have always been debates on enhancing everyday foods such as: corn, wheat, and soybeans. There are hundreds of allegations made towards GMOs claiming that the crops cause cancer, ruin the environment, cause autism, make people sick, put farmers out of business, and much more. None of these have been proven to be true. In fact, much of the research currently being conducted says that it is improving the lives of many. It has actually shown that global hunger is decreasing in areas where genetically modified food is being used. Farmers who use GMOs have increasing salaries and there have been no health issues tied to these crops. …show more content…
It typically takes 8-12 years to produce a better plant by cross-breeding. But if scientists can isolate a gene in one species that is associated with, say, the ability to grow in salty soil, they can sometimes transfer it directly into the genetic code of another species, without spending years crossing successive generations (Economist, 2004, p. 1).
Without the use of crossbreeding, or better known GMOs, many of the products and animals known today would be nonexistent or would take at least a decade to improve. There were many factors that led to the production of genetically modified foods but there are many definitions to what a genetic modified food could be.
Although there are many different perspectives on what a genetically modified food is, there is not a fixed definition. GMO stands for genetically modified organism, which has a negative connotation within the phrase. Though, it is not an organism; rather it is a process done to foods. According to the Genetic Literacy Project (2016):
Genetically modified food is the process of gathering traits from other plants to improve and further increase the nutritional value of a singular plant. This has been used for centuries but was named crossbreeding. But developing an

GMO: Unforeseen Long Term Effects

...Consumer Persuasive Essay Consumers are the people that are eating the food whether it is GMO or not. GMO is really bad for the consumers in many ways and can be dangerous. GMOs are bad for many reasons, but three reasons, unforeseen long term effects, allergies, and side effects. There are many unknown things about GMO just like the unforeseen long term effects of it. Unforeseen long term effects are dangerous because they’re unknown. We don’t what they do or when they’re coming. They have done tests, but have only told us that it doesn’t affect us right when we eat it. Since food is able to leave behind material in us, GMO can leave behind bacteria that will affect us later in life. Also could cause stomach inflammation. They have also found many toxins inside GMO food. An example is when they found GM corn in a pregnant woman’s blood and her newborn. These unforeseen long term effects are really dangerous and should be made aware of....

To stay alive you need to have a lot of capabilities and tools to survive What is marketing? Marketing includes more than just needs, it’s concerned with providing the right product to the right person at the right moment. That way it creates value. This way it also incorporates innovation. Functions & processes/activities are the things we do to deliver customer value. These can be strategic and tactical. History of marketing thought - philosophy *  Production orientation, huge production lines trying to find bigger markets. Its all about efficient distribution. Demand is huge, supply was very small, they didn’t care about colour for example. Marketing was all about getting your product efficiently to the consumer. Marketing is a very contextual science, how do we deal with circumstances, and how do we become successful in these circumstances. *  Selling orientation, extra activities...

Moneyball

...Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game Michael Lewis For Billy Fitzgerald I can still hear him shouting at me Lately in a wreck of a Californian ship, one of the passengers fastened a belt about him with two hundred pounds of gold in it, with which he was found afterwards at the bottom. Now, as he was sinking-had he the gold? or the gold him? —John Ruskin, Unto This Last Preface I wrote this book because I fell in love with a story. The story concerned a small group of undervalued professional baseball players and executives, many of whom had been rejected as unfit for the big leagues, who had turned themselves into one of the most successful franchises in Major League Baseball. But the idea for the book came well before I had good reason to write it—before I had a story to fall in love with. It began, really, with an innocent question: how did one of the poorest teams in baseball, the Oakland Athletics, win so many games? For more than a decade the people who run professional baseball have argued that the game was ceasing to be an athletic competition and becoming a financial one. The gap between rich and poor in baseball was far greater than in any other professional sport, and widening rapidly. At the opening of the 2002 season, the richest team, the New York Yankees, had a payroll of $126 million while the two poorest teams, the Oakland A's and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, had payrolls of less than a third of that, about $40 million. A decade before, the highest payroll...
