...Abstract Since the implementation of the Unitrak software, Midsouth Chamber of Commerce has continued to make incompetent management decisions, when it is related to building an IT infrastructure, for their organization. Such a lack of foresight, to properly structure a sustainable IT environment has created numerous difficulties for MSCC. In order to salvage the situation, MSCC has acquired Sage Niele to manage MSCC ‘s information systems. Niele has an impressive resume, as a previous owner/operator of a successful IS and financial business consultant company, which suggest that MSCC has finally taken the right step towards solving their IT issue’s. Niele has already started on her pursuit of saving MSCC from further disaster. Gathering information about the current IT scenario, and working with DMA, the company that is providing MSCC’s current software system, with a softer temperament, are some positive signs demonstrated by Niele, towards solving MSCC’s IS problems. From now, It is essential for MSCC to work with Niele to provide her with every opportunity to succeed, with proper oversight from the upper management .MSCC also has to be extremely careful to avoid past mistakes, or else even with Niele’s effort, MSCC will seize to exist as an organization without a proper IT infrastructure. Cleaning up an Information System debacle at MSCC Leon Lassiter, president of Midsouth Chamber of Commerce, felt the need to introduce UNITRAK...

...4289 APRIL 20, 2011 LINDA A. HILL HEATHER BECKHAM Kay Sunderland: Making the Grade at Attain Learning Kay Sunderland, account director for Attain Learning (Attain), sat in her Brooklyn office furiously scribbling notes in the margin of the research report she had just printed out. It was the second week of January 2011, and Sunderland was preparing for a new client meeting. As she paused to take a sip of her coffee, her phone vibrated with an incoming text. “We have an issue that I need you to deal with. Call me ASAP – Juan Nunez.” Juan Nunez was the Chief Learning Officer for Sunderland’s most important client, Gramen Equipment Company. Sunderland quickly called Nunez and was informed that Mike Morgan, Attain’s content development director, had left several voice mail messages for Nunez. Nunez politely informed her that he did not have the time or inclination to deal with Morgan’s calls and he did not want to be bothered by Morgan again. Sunderland had been focused on another client’s deployment and was not aware of the reason for Morgan’s calls. She was caught off guard by his actions and was extremely annoyed that he contacted the client directly. He knew the account director was supposed to be the sole point of contact with the client. She immediately checked Morgan’s Outlook© calendar and saw he was in a team meeting for the next hour. Attain Learning Inc.: Company History Attain was founded by Caroline Nicholas in 1998 soon after she had completed...

...Kay Sunderland: Case Analysis 1) Describe Sunderland’s management and work style. What are her sources of power? Sunderland has been a hard-working individual who has worked her way up the ranks. She is hardworking and is relied on by her colleagues and superiors to deliver on high-value projects. Having prior relevant experience and a strong work ethic, she has been entrusted with the important position of an account director in the firm to handle important client accounts. Kay has strong insights and a strategic mindset but the ambitious streak in her to deliver on whatever the client wants sometimes makes her too demanding and unrealistic. Her management style is that of being a hard taskmaster and being unrelenting till the results have been delivered. Her power structure has both positional and relational components. Enjoying a high position in the organizational hierarchy, she enjoys certain authority by virtue of her designation. The rest is derived from her relations with other colleagues and superiors inside the organizations, the clients outside and the overall structure of the hierarchy network. 2) Describe Morgan’s management and work style. What are his sources of power? Morgan after receiving Master’s degree in project management took up job in a small company specialising in lean manufacturing training programs. He loves relaxed, entrepreneurial environment and dislikes the bureaucratic ways of managing hence he always encourages his team to follow their own...

It is a summary of the most important elements of your paper. Your abstract should accurately represent your paper, be non-evaluative, coherent and readable, and concise. The abstract is a single paragraph without indentation. See The APA Publication Manual, 6th edition, p. 27 for additional details on writing an abstract. Midsouth Chamber of Commerce, Competency and Complacency: A Case Study Analysis This Midsouth Chamber of Commerce MSCC Case Study is an examination of how NOT to manage information technology. Many things went wrong in this organization’s pursuit of greater efficiency. While some of it can be attributed to natural but painful growth, basic human character and leadership flaws account most of the problems MSCC endured. I will analyze the mistakes that were made which led to internal strife, crippled productivity and decreased morale. I also want to assess the performance of Mrs. Sage Niele, their newly appointed Vice President/Chief Financial Officer. Finally, I will critique what we are told about Data Management Associates (DMA), and their contract with MSCC. Caught In The Middle Of Technology The Midsouth Chamber of Commerce had been in business for over 80 years. They knew what they were doing, and they knew how to anticipate the needs of...

ABSTRACT This essay attempts to emphasize the importance of the private sector’s involvement through APEC participation in fostering economic development at the Base of the Pyramid (BOP). In December 2008, the Asian Development Bank[1] reported that poverty in the Asia Pacific region is estimated to be much larger than earlier reported. The region was also reported to be facing major hurdles in meeting its Millennium Development Goals. Following ADB reports, in January 2009, the World Economic Forum[2], in partnership with The Boston Consulting Group presented a set of new insights and design principles which can help companies tap the economic potential of BOP markets in ways that serve both commercial and societal goals. In fact, both reports concluded that...

..."NATURAL PRESERVATIVES" Anthony C. Dweck Research Director, Peter Black Medicare Ltd., White Horse Business Park, Aintree Avenue, Trowbridge, Wiltshire, UK. BA14 0XB SUMMARY This paper looks at the theoretical development of a natural preservative system using the author's data base on medicinal plants as a source of references. The legal aspects of this concept are considered. The traditional methods of preservation, many taken from the food industry are summarised. The use of alcohol, glycerine, sugar, salt, dessication, anhydrous systems and temperature are amongst examples considered. The definitions of the many words used to describe the act of preservation are considered, and the confusion that results from the presence of the many synonyms is considered. e.g. antimicrobial, antibiotic, antiseptic, bactericidal, etc. Specific organisms are identified as being of particular interest, especially those standard organisms that form part of the B.P. challenge test. These include Candida albicans, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Aspergillus niger and Staphylococcus aureus. A cross-section of plants mentioned in the literature as being specifically targeted at these organisms are considered. The paper concludes with Appendices of plant materials that have mention in the literature according to specific definitions, which may give researchers a potential introduction to future research.
