Là, c'est THE BEST!!!

...Religious symbolism is prevalent throughout the Harry Potter series. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban plot had a very similar to certain passages in the Bible. The betrayal and the trial of Jesus Christ mirror many characters’ own trials and unfairness that is their justice system during the course of the book. The tale of betrayal never gets old, but where do we draw the line on when history repeats itself? If we had the ability to go back in time and change it, would we want to have that ability, that life-altering decision? The Ministry of Magic seems to have ever-changing policies about the laws and regulations of the wizarding world. Harry Potter becomes agitated with Aunt Marge because she insulted his deceased parents. He inflates her to the size of a sumo wrestler; she is shot into the sky, and eventually found in a field. The Ministry gives Harry Potter no punishment and laughs it off because he is young. Corruption of the Ministry of Magic could be used as a metaphor of the High Priests during Jesus’s time. The High Priests are supposed to be men of God and are set to a higher moral code. They chose to act against Jesus because it endangered their way of life. The High Priests will do what it takes to get what/whom they want. The Ministry is motivated to protect and preserve their investors and aristocrats’ interests. That is shown in action when Lucius Malfoy throws a fit about a beast “attacking” his son. There are many falsely accused persons...

...The Popularization of Harry Potter Series The Harry Potter series, which is written by JK Rowling, is a miracle of literary history that it is well known in countries with various cultural backgrounds all over the world. It has been translated into seventy languages and sold over four hundred million copies in two hundred countries. The success of the Harry Potter series results in a success of its industry, including films, video games, toys, traveling attractions and theme parks. The Chronicles of Narnia is another popular fantasy storybook published in 1950. But why did it fail to achieve the same incredible success as the Harry Potter series? Part of the reason is because the Harry Potter series is not only a book for children but also a book for adults. The details of the books connect to younger readers’ real lives, while being inspirational enough to generate older readers’ considerations. It is far more than just a fantasy series. Harry Potter’s magic world is so real to readers because it is very similar to readers’ lives. There are governments, schools, pubs, banks, bookstores, train stations, the World Cup, prisons and hospitals in Harry Potter’s magic world. These are all things young readers can relate to in their lives. The similarity makes Harry Potter’s magic world real to readers. Besides, by offering detailed examples to connect her characters with readers, JK.Rowling successfully convinces her readers that the magic world is real and they can be part of it if...

...Name: Eslam Eid Essay Teacher: Mrs. Harp English: 9-5 Date: 6th Dec, 09 In J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter and the chambers of secrets, the author establishes ghosts as characters with feeling through the dialogue, action, and thought of Moaning Myrtle. Myrtle always haunts the girl’s bathroom when she gets angry by flooding the toilets. ‘Hermione said,’ “ Yes. It’s been out of order all year because she keeps having tantrums and flooding the place.”(133) Myrtle shows us that she always haunts the girl’s bathroom when she gets angry. Myrtle always cry when people start talking about her in a mean way, for example some people call her fat Myrtle or ugly Myrtle. ‘Hermione said,’ “Oh, no, peeves, don’t tell her what I said, she ‘ll be really upset.”(134) This quote proves that Myrtle always cry every time somebody talks about her in a mean way. Anytime somebody upsets Myrtle, she goes to the bathroom and tries to kill herself, but then she realized that she is already dead. ‘Myrtle said,’ “Peeves upset me so much I came in here and tried to kill myself. Then of course, I remembered that I’m... I’m...”(156) this quote shows us that Myrtle is always sad, that when she tried to kill herself in the bathroom she realized that she is already dead. So in J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets, the author establishes ghosts as characters with feelings through the dialogue, action, and thought of Moaning Myrtle. Myrtle...

Harry Potter

...Harry James Potter (b. 31 July 1980) was a half-blood wizard, the only child and son of James Potter and Lily Potter (née Evans), and one of the most famous wizards of modern times. In what proved to be a vain attempt to circumvent a prophecy that a boy born at the end of July of 1980 could be able to defeat him, Voldemort attempted to murder him when he was a year and three months old, shortly after murdering Harry's parents as they tried to protect him. This early, unsuccessful attempt to vanquish Harry led to Voldemort's first defeat and the end of the First Wizarding War. One consequence of Lily's protection is that her orphaned son had to be raised by her only remaining blood relative, Petunia Dursley, where he was neither welcomed nor nurtured, but would stay alive, at least until he was seventeen years old. As the only known survivor of the Killing Curse up to that point, Harry was already famous before he arrived at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Early on his eleventh birthday, Harry learned that he was a wizard. He began attending Hogwarts in 1991 and was Sorted into Gryffindor house. While at school, Harry became best friends with Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger, later he became the youngest Quidditch Seeker in over a century and eventually captain of his house's team, winning two Quidditch Cups.[11] He became even better known in his early years for protecting the Philosopher's Stone from Voldemort and saving Ron's sister Ginny Weasley from the Chamber...

A Thought on Harry Potter Books

...I want to start 2012 reading Harry Potter because it’s the first year without it. I admit, I’m a Potterhead or whatever you call it. I got this book last December 2010 and being a bookworm, I’m finished with it in a short period of time. I still remember, I was patiently waiting for my Hogwarts Acceptance letter even though my 11th birthday has passed by. It was silly but who’ll refuse to entertain the thought of attending a school for witches and wizards? This book is a spectacular little romp with funny, courageous, and endearing characters that you can’t help but love. Hermione, the young scholar who starts out prim and up-tight but soon becomes a true friend; Ron, the boy who has little money but who has an abundance of family and loyalty to his friends to make up for it; and then there’s Harry, the boy who starts out sleeping in a closet and ends up being a hero. Harry is kind to those that deserve it, fearless when it counts the most, and wonderfully intelligent. So what’s not to love? I don’t get it why some people say Harry Potter is evil. I mean, it does encourage me to become a witch. But we all know it’s not going to happen. In my imagination… maybe. But trust me, there is nothing wrong with Harry Potter. None at all. All in all, J.K. Rowling has the talent. I don’t want to give away too much. Read it for yourself, it’s one of my favorite books ever. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to start Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. PS: Those who...

Queer Essay on Harry Potter

...Queer Essay On Harry Potter and the Philosophers stone A queer reading of Harry Potter and the Philosophers stone can bring up many questions of what is classed as normal. It also can show how a subculture within that society is regarded as abnormal. It can suggest that the everyday world in this novel is queer compared to the wizard world which is seen as the norm. Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick’s Epistemology of the closet suggests that queer reading should not be from the readers own sexuality in mind, but an openness to the queer context, connections and potentials already available within the text. Bennett and Royle suggest that “some of the strangeness or uncanniness, some of the power and fascination of literary texts, that is to say has to do with the singular space which they offer for thinking differently about gender and sexuality” As Harry potter is a young adults novel that is stable for a queer reading as it traditional is a none sexual fantasy novel. Harry Potter is seen as a world parallel to our own where it has differences in people and their cultures. However no where in the novel does it mention anything about homosexuality, gender role bending, or same sex relationships. Every relationship that forms is with a character from the opposite sex and the family is mostly typical nuclear form of the mother staying at home while the father goes to work. There is no mention of a gay, lesbian or transgender character mentioned in the story. If the novel is...

Harry Potter Lit Review

...Kelsey COMM 200: Gateway to Communication Studies November 20, 13 Review of Literature: The Rhetoric of Harry Potter Every so often there are stories that take the world by storm and make such an impact that they become part of our everyday world. (Czubek et al. 442) Jk Rowling’s Potter book series is by far one of the most loved series by adults and children for over sixteen years. First published in 1997, the world has fallen in love with Harry Potter and the magical world that he saved from destruction several times over. For me, growing up and being forced to read was always a problem until my father bought me the first book and I have been hooked ever since. A proud owner of all the books in hardback, audio books and all the movies, some would say I’m a bit of a Harry Potter nerd. For me, Harry Potter has become an everyday part of my world. In this review of rhetoric, three main components will be examined. The will be the examination of identities. Secondly, an examination of the commodity culture in the Potter books. Lastly, Christian undertones will be looked at. Identity Harry spent 11 years of his life not knowing who he was or where he belonged. He thought he belonged to his horrible Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia. Todd A. Czubek and Janey Greenwald have written an article that explains the parallels between Harry Potter and the Deaf world. Using a “deaf lens” we can gain insight into social arrangements in the same way that fields...

Harry Potter Film Review

...Harry Potter is a movie about witchcraft. The main character is Harry Potter who is a very brave, kindhearted and smart boy. He loves his parents who were both wizards. However, his parents were killed by an evil wizard named Voldemort when Harry was a baby. He survived, and as an orphan, he suffered some unfair treatment in his aunt’s house. Even though he lived an unpleasant life, he did not give up the hope for a better life. The Harry Potter movie series are inspiring and creative and they give moral lessons about bravery, perseverance, and strong friendship. Harry Potter does many acts of bravery and teaches its readers that being brave does not always mean not being scared of anything, but doing something even though you are scared. An example of this would be when he found out that he had to die so that Voldemort would be killed. He is willing to sacrifice himself to save others even though he is scared to die. In order to destroy Voldemort, he must to find all the Horcruxes. Horcruxes are parts of his soul put into different objects. Harry must destroy all the Horcruxes to make Voldemort mortal so that he can die. He then finds out that he is a Horcruxes and must kill himself for Voldemort to die. During the war in Hogwarts, several major characters are killed in the first wave of battle. Voldemort said if Harry comes to the forest, he will not attract other wizards. Harry could run away, but he didn’t. He chooses to fight against with Voldemort. After Harry died, he...
