A handle on life In the downward spiral of life, Kevin Castillo is loosing almost everything that he values like a trophy. His almost perfect job and sweetheart girlfriend was being tossed in a juggle. The Castillo family is becoming worried and concerned about their once bright shining star. Kevin was a part of a tight knit and loving family that would always be there for him in a heartbeat. He chooses the opposite road to success and makes a path of his own. He doesn’t realize how much help the Castillo family is throwing at him; help that could change the way he feels and renew his way of life. Kevin Castillo, at age twenty-three, is going through depression refusing all help from the people that care about him. No matter what choices come his way he always chose the worst one possible. Kevin never arrived on time for his high status job that took him two years to receive. He didn’t understand how serious arriving on time was to his boss. Kevin worked in a business office that was always spotless and shiny when you walked in. It was a blinding white right as your eyes opened in the room. He was an assistant to a tailored vice president that kept everything in the perfect place. His boss had a schedule for every detail of his life, and Kevin didn’t realize that he was ruining his boss’s routine. Since Kevin received this job, he had not done much to keep it. He is continuously lazy with his work and took long breaks. Kevin’s boss couldn’t take it anymore and decided to fire him

Castillo 2 because he could not complete the task at hand. Kevin was devastated and knew he had messed up. Kevin became overly sad and beat himself down for loosing his dream job that he had worked hard for. Since loosing his white couloir job, he hasn’t done much searching for a new one. The loss of his last one is too busy eating him up inside that he can’t stand to move on from the great experience. The Castillo family is trying to step in and help him look for a new job and maybe try to get him to realize that loosing a job is not the end of the world. Kevin refused help from his caring family and continued to be in a slump and bring in no income for the family. Kevin finds that drinking alcohol is a way to escape the problems in his messed up life. Almost everyday he comes home with loads of beer and liquor and begins to intoxicate himself with these drinks. His family is anything but pleased with this terrible situation. Susan Castillo, his mother, is tired of the alcohol smell around the house and demands he stop drinking. Kevin refuses to listen to his mother and continues this process for weeks upon weeks and begins to put on weight. He is becoming more and more depressed with himself and the whole family can see it. Susan suggests he go to an alcoholic anonymous meeting and maybe go see a therapist. Kevin decides to attend one anonymous meeting but refuses to go again. He claims that there were too many people there and is smelled like rats and mad him want to throw up. This made his family even more upset and not know what the next step for help would be, since he was refusing all of their efforts. Thinking that nothing else worse could happen to him, the unthinkable did. Kevin’s girlfriend of five years cheated on him. She claims it was a mistake, but it just made Kevin

Castillo 3 feel worse about his life. He just sank lower into his depression and could not find a way out. He was doing nothing that would better him. Kevin continued to love his girlfriend for a long time and would not try and move on from her. Kevin was in this deep hole and the situation was not helping him at all. Kevin soon decided to go see a therapist about his life and his heart-wrenching break up. His parents were kind enough to pay for his visits. For once his family felt happier that he chose to go see someone about his depression. Soon enough Kevin decided to stop seeing the therapist because of the unwelcomed feeling she received when he had his appointments. He didn’t want to disappoint his family by not going anymore; he decided to lie to his family and say he was continuing to attend when he wasn’t. When his family found out the truth about the therapists sessions, how he wasn’t attending, they were very upset. They couldn’t think of anything else to do to help him. Susan soon realized that she needed to scare him to make him realize what he was doing with his life. They told Kevin that if didn’t shape up his act and start to better himself that his parents were going to kick him out of the house. If he were to be kicked out of his house Kevin would have nowhere to go and no money to support him. The Castillo’s thought this would help him clean up his act, and it eventually did. With time and patience Kevin finally realized this was not the type of life he wanted to lead. He pulled himself out of depression and made a new life for himself. He soon found a job at a local dentist office as a front desk receptionist. Even though it wasn’t his dream job, it would pay his bills and help with the family income. Kevin still regrets acting how he did at his last job but soon realized that maybe that happened for a reason. He also stopped drinking and started to work out. Kevin goes to the gym everyday now and focuses his time to better is life even more. He soon got over is girlfriend and started to actually go back to Castillo 4 therapy again. He goes once a week and will continue to go until he feels the need to stop. Kevin pulled is body and mind out of depression but it almost took over his life.
