Having compliance is important in health care, because following a health proposal, taking prescriptions, keeping and being on time to physician office visits and prescribed tests will ensure a positive outcome ("HLT-306V Lecture 1," 2007). The hcp’s role in client compliance is honoring the patient bill of rights, by notifying, treating, and description of benefits and risks. Examples of hcp’s contributing to noncompliance are: rushed explanation of illness, diagnostic tests, treatment plan, undetailed, socioeconomics of client ("HLT-306V Lecture 1," 2007). Example: Bowel prep for colonoscopy or a bedside commode due to client immobility; not providing medicine in topical/liquid form if pills are too difficult to swallow; not having education material in primary language can also contribute. The client needs time to process the information before they decide if they want to continue. Compliance happens when continuity of care is present. It is a direct reflection of the hcp’s ability to communicate with the patient, create some form of bond, showing sympathy, and expertise which will facilitate a degree of cooperation...
