What if you wanted something that you knew you could not have? In the book Jayber Crow, by Wendell Berry, it tells a story of a man named Jayber Crow who is going through a rough time in his life dealing with death, heart break , and grief. He tries to find out who he is. In this book, you will see all of Jayber’s happy moments and many heart breaking times and how he is abject in the story. In Jayber Crow, Jayber tells of all the deaths of his loved ones and how he is left all alone. Jabber is also introduced to the woman that he loves but he can never have her. In the article, Seed of Hope it states, “ Hope gives birth to the over coming life.” This relates to Jayber when he is placed in the orphanage and he finds hope he turns to reading and wants to become a minister. This gives Jayber hope that a better day is coming. In chapter 25-26 it states, “ Jayber lends money to Mattie to get Jimmy out of jail on a drunken driving charge soon after, Jimmy is sent off to fight in the Vietnam War.” Jayber has hope that he and Mattie will Stay in contact as friends.
