Before the change-of-command ceremony, the lieutenants and captain’s considered Art Bauer, unqualified given that they were more experienced and graduate students. Since Art Bauer had no higher education and his prior occupation was “Hoseman Number 2”, the other men of the squadron were hesitant as to why he was chosen as the commanding officer. However, through his speech he seemed to have gained the respect from the squadron.
