..."The human voice can never reach the distance that is covered by the still small voice of conscience" Mahatma Ghandi. There are conflicting beliefs about whether conscience is innate or learned. When conscience is described as being innate, it means that it is inborn within you. From a religious perspective, an innate conscience is one which is God given or the voice of reason as a moral guide to what is right and wrong, whereas if it is argued that the conscience is not innate then it is described as being learned or developed according to psychologists. There are three key approaches to defining conscience psychologically wise. The first one by Freud and developed by Piaget and Fromm, argues that conscience is the result of environmental factors. Freud's definition of conscience is linked to an individual's feelings of guilt and fear of punishment. As such, it could be seen as an unreliable guide to ethical decision-making as it may inspire actions simply to gain approval. There is then the an entirely different approach to conscience, existing within the Christian tradition, is to define conscience as an innate or intuitive sense. This view has perpetuated from the early Christian writings of St Paul to Cardinal Newman's work at the end of the 19th Century. Another important proponent of an intuitive conscience was Joseph Butler, who identified conscience as the ultimate moral decision maker. Placed within us by God, it must be obeyed. However, a main criticism of this is why...

...STRATHMORE UNIVERSITY TITLE: CASE STUDY OF FACEBOOK CHRISTINE ONYANGO Facebook is a social networking site that was created by Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin in 2004 driven by the urge to connect the world and create a mirror of the real world community rather than just an online community. By that time, there were a few such sites already in existence; MySpace and Friendster. These sites would at times face technical instability and had a lot of distracting advertisements. What made the big difference for Facebook is that the founders focus on the market and customize their site depending on what they deem fit for it. (Adam Hartung, 2011) in Forbes’ blog, stated that Zack’s willingness to let the business to go wherever the market wanted it, is one of the factors that led to the rise of Facebook. Some of the things for instance include; adding the capability to upload photos and identify the people on those photos as well as “tag” your friends on pictures and videos, game applications that basically allowed people to play games and the news feed feature was a great innovation that allows people to view “news” as posted by their Facebook friends. At the start, the founders came up with a fund of $1,000 to be able to launch the site. Later on in the same year, Peter Thiel made an angel investment of $ 500,000 for 10.2% of the company. In 2005, Accel Investment made a $12.7 million venture capital investment and then joined the board. In 2006 Facebook received $27.5 million...

...Socialism Vs. Capitalism & Everything In-Between. We have all grown up seeing that we live in a world that divides our planet into territories. These territories are bordered by imaginary lines that divide us from them. The borders in which we live play a major role in developing each of our identities, our customs or traditions, the way we conduct ourselves in business and personal endeavors. Some of us have grown up with an expectation of freedom to choose, while others depend on their government to act in their best interest. Depending on what country you call home, you either participant in a free market economy, a controlled economy, or a mixture of both. In this report we are going to look at what creates each type of economy and where we can find examples of each within the world. First we are going to analysis the characteristic of a Free Market Economy. In a free market, the government’s role is to “make sure that the market is stable enough to, properly, conduct business” (Freidman). In purity, the system hopes to “eliminate subsidies for industries, the pre determination of prices, and the amount of regulation controlling certain industry sectors”(Freidman). The implementation of a free market introduced individual property rights, which allows citizens to voluntarily exchange property/resources at a price arranged solely by the mutual consent of the buyer and seller. The seller is free to choose if the price being offered is worth their property; without threat...

...Introduction Wireless internet has now become a way of life. It is all around us. Our society has now moved from the ability of being linked by a cord to access the internet to the availability of accessing the world wide web by using wireless capabilities. The way we receive news and media has changed since the invention of wireless. This technology has become so common that one may rarely think about it at all when using it. The days of plugging up a computer to an Ethernet cord to be connected to the internet has become a thing of the past. Surely this method is of course still used, but it has become a less modern way to connect to the World Wide Web. When you want to see what the weather forecast will be in your area, it is as simple as opening up your phone and punching in your zip code. It has also made the ability for ratings to be gathered for televsision shows using netowrking sites such as twitter and facebook. These sites can be access through wireless on mobile phones (Spangler, 2011). Presently more applications are being developed that allow the use of wireless internet. These applications can be downloaded for celluar phones, tablets, ipads, and ipods. One application that I have used is an application called Kazzam. This application is truly amazing and I has been helpful in several situations. Have you ever heard a song that you loved and could not get it out of your head?
