...EBM510 - Information Processing and the Web Cloud Computing Research Paper Mahesh BahuleyanNair 000-14-6974 Abstract This research paper is to recommend or suggest cloud computing as an alternative to the obsolete and highly expensive traditional computing mechanisms. Cloud computing is a new general purpose Internet-based technology through which information is stored in servers and provided as a service and on-demand to clients. Cloud computing services including Infrastructure as a Service promise potential cost savings for businesses by offering remote, scalable computing resources. However attractive these services are, they pose significant security risks to customer applications and data beyond what is expected using traditional on-premises architecture. This paper identifies three basic types of threats related to the IaaS layer and eight kinds of attacks. These are aligned within the CIA model as a way to determine security risk. Cloud computing is a generalized term for anything that involves delivering hosted services over the Internet. These services are broadly divided into threesome categories: Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). The study darken computing was inspired by the darken symbol that's often utilized to equal the Internet in flowcharts and diagrams. A darken assist has threesome...

...AMBA 600 1141 | “How Can New Cloud Technologies be Implemented in Government Contracting?” | | | Stephen Roane | 5/11/2015 | Executive Summary: Recently cloud computing has been a hot topic in the news. The reason is because cloud computing has a lot of potential. Cloud technology could revolutionize the way that businesses operate. Recently the Department of Defense (DOD) granted security approvals to a number of companies that provide cloud technology. This technology could have a significant impact on the way that procurement is done in the Federal Government. Utelizing this new technology could create cost savings, give remote access and create flexibility. Along with these advantages that cloud technology can potentially offer comes some issues. The main issue that cloud technology presents is security threats to the information that the cloud itself will store. On 4 May 2015 the Department of Defense granted new security approvals to 23 cloud providers. The reason why this is important in the Contract/Procurement field is because this will allow contract writing systems to operate via a cloud application. The use of cloud technologies will create cost savings and offer “flexibility and agility to respond to new challenges and opportunities.” (McKendrick, 2013) Cloud systems have their pros and cons. Some of the pros are the flexibility and access, which could be a plus to any federal agency. On the other hand the major con is security. ...

...Health Information technology (HIT) will continue to move ahead and make large impacts in the healthcare industry. HIT has a vital role in stimulating action in improving the quality of care, controlling costs and boosting efficiency in clinical and business areas of healthcare. The most growth has occurred as a result of the passage of the HITECH Act. Both public and private sectors are utilizing IT to meet new quality reporting standards, empower patients and serve as the backbone of emerging care delivery and payment reform models. Meaningful Use part 1 has come and gone with the implementation of Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Meaningful Use part 2 and part 3 are heating up as portals, imaging and storage requirements are the latest requirements in scope. As part of Meaningful use stage 2 rolls out larger image workloads will cause networks to slow down and stall (Bolan, 2013). Information Technology and outsourcing potentials are the areas of discussion for this risk analysis briefing. Of particular interest are resolving server data and energy costs increases, potential security breaches and hacker vulnerability, storage of medical images and disaster recovery of images after a natural disaster. Finding solutions for these issues will come with risks that will need to be identified and analyzed to determine best response and a plan to monitor. ...Zuora Inc. Venturing into Cloud Computing Executive Summary Zuora Inc is an industry leader in providing flexible, best in class billing software and platforms to Software-as-a-Service companies. Although only a year old, Zuora managed to outperform all its competitors and gain the leading market share, primarily on the strength of their corporate culture which lead to their aggressive marketing and sales team. However, an emerging trend in technology suggests that cloud computing may eclipse SaaS in the future. Economic downturn also threatens Zuora, as their funds are limited and the economy has caused valuations of companies to drop across the board. In order to suitably adapt to the changing marketplace, Zuora needs to make choices on how to grow and what areas to focus on, balancing the tradeoff given their limited resources. Zuora has three options available, choosing either to focus on just growing the SaaS slowly, expanding to the cloud computing market, or growing big to capture all subscription based businesses. Giving consideration the risk, cost, and strategic fit of these three options, the second one is the best choice for Zuora at this point in time. Zuora should expand into the cloud computing market while not neglecting the SaaS market. Current Situation Founded in December 2007, Zuora Inc was created to provide state of the art, low-cost billing systems for Software-as-a-Service. Zuora’s founding principle is that the world is moving from a manufacturing...

...Introduction Cloud computing has the potential to change the face of the Information Technology (IT) industry. Industry experts maintain that the cloud will eventually become a primary component of computing activities conducted over the Internet. Presently, major corporations like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and IBM have embraced this trend and are using the technology to enhance IT supported services. As the number of benefits and potential uses of the technology grows, the funding earmarked for assessments and implementation of cloud services will likely multiply. Cloud computing consists of immense benefits that allows end users to utilize services that include infrastructure, applications, data storage capacity. Last year, the Brookings Institution released a study that endorses the benefits of cloud computing to the government. The writer of the study, Darrell West, who is the vice president and director of government studies at Brookings, stated in the paper, “that agencies that have moved to the cloud generally enjoyed 25percent to 50 percent savings on their IT cost. For the federal government as a whole, this translates into billions in cost savings, depending on the scope of the transition” (West, 2011). Cloud computing consist of a network of servers that run services that are operated as shared platforms. The characteristics of cloud computing include on-demand services, pay-per-use services, broadband network access, multi-tenancy, rapid elasticity and scalability...

...both holistic and proactive. This decision traditionally involves an evaluation of the business processes involved, assessment of compliance with regulations and standards, and the identification of information systems and technology capability. Cloud Computing has become one of the most discussed and sought after solutions for dealing with such challenges. According to IDC Cloud, research suggests that IT Cloud Services spending will reach $47.4 billion in 2013 and is expected to be more than $107 billion in 2017 with an annual growth rate of 23.5 percent, five times that of the industry (IDC, 2013). Cloud Computing is a resourceful model that allows enterprises to accelerate innovation, decrease infrastructure costs, improve resource utilization, and greater ability to manage information technology security (PwC, 2010). The “Cloud” refers to the Internet, a collection of interconnected networks that communicate with each other, and it can be accessed globally. Cloud Computing employs network resources to deliver services entirely online. The National Institute of Standards and Technology defines Cloud Computing as: “A model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction” (Mell, 2011). Recently, the cloud’s strategic importance to decision-makers...
