How Did Religion Affect Lazaro's Life

During the time when Lazaro was alive he and his family had trouble getting money in order to survive. His mother who is a widower gives up Lazaro to a blind man to keep safe and to be fed because Lazaro mother cannot do so. During that time money was hard to get because of the booming economy that Spain was experiencing due to getting new resources of spices and herbs among with expensive metals such as gold and silver from the new world. With the economy booming prices on food, land, and ways to live have risen thus causing an inflammation on goods. This had effected Lazaro because his own mother had to give him up to a stranger in order for him and herself to survive, this key part sets many misfortunes upon Lazaro throughout his life. …show more content…
The main religion that was practice and forced upon in Spain was Christianity. There were laws that if you didn’t practice Christianity you will be baptize by force and also converted into Christianity, this was mostly practice on the Muslims and the Jews. There were also laws that were implanted on society if you were to practice another religion besides Christianity or even say any negatives against it you were either exiled from the country or killed in public with no trail. People will often keep their mouth shut in order to be safe, or even practiced their former religion in secrecy. Along with controlling people’s lives it controlled finances on who was to get money and who wasn’t. This effected the authors of the book because theirs isn’t any authors entitled on it. This was done most likely to protect the authors name against the crown so he or she won’t be killed by talking negative toward Christianity as it does so in one of its
