...How do I see myself five years from now? By year 2018, instead of being an astronaut which I cannot fail to remember as my ambition when I was little just like any other kid of my age, I shall have been an alumnus of CvSU getting my certificate in electrical technology. I also see myself in the corporate world applying the skills and knowledge I have in my chosen field and along with the stable job I have is the wellbeing of my family. In the first place, who would not want to help their family and by some means repay the hardships they’ve been through just to support your schooling? Similarly, I also see myself and my family not experiencing the problems we’ve encountered in the past years especially when it comes to money matters. Instead, we shall have been living a comfortable and happy life. Five years from now, aside from support I give to my family, I also see that by this time I have met the girl whom I can spend my whole life with. Moreover, I shall have also saved a certain amount of money, visited many places and have experienced some leisure for myself, let's say, vacations, out-of-town trips, mountaineering, etc. What’s more important is that by this time I see myself believing in the words my loved ones have told me: Through the education that we can acquire, we shall realize that we are not powerless in the future; that our choices will bring us to certain goals. And this is what my degree will provide me. PRAYER Almight God, we praise your Holy Name and...

...2015 Perceiving Me When starting this assignment I had to sit down think about who I would give the survey to because I knew it needed to be honest. After thinking about it for a long time, I decided to go with my dad, cousin, and my best friend. The reason I chose these three people is because each of them has always provided me with very honest answers and have never let me down. Upon giving the survey, I found that I need to change my perception of how I am seen dependent on other people. Survey Summary When handing out the survey, I knew that some perceptions would be different from mine or the same. My dad, best friend, and cousin either perceived me to be the same or one was different than the rest. For example, my father and cousin perceive me to be a procrastinator as do I, but my best friend perceives me to be diligent. Another example would be my dad perceiving me as a dependent person and my cousin and best friend perceive me as independent. Then there were a lot that were the same as me being organized, interesting, accepting, outgoing, etc. Each of these perceptions is the ones I see in myself all the time so seeing the same answers makes know the way I perceive myself is true. Analysis Perceptions All my life I have perceived myself to be helpful and very friendly to everyone. After receiving the survey from each of them, I found out that they all perceive me to be the same. I had never perceived myself to be a popular person, and neither did my dad. However...

...How do I see myself? Often I'm asked how do I see myself. That is really truly a very hard question. Now I would think it would be easy to answer that question because who knows myself better than me. But it really is a hard question to answer honestly because I believe my mood for the moment will determine my answer. That can be unfair for me. Which is why it makes a question like that hard to answer. Normally, I would say I see myself as a sensitive, loving, fair person but also a bit nonchalant. Not lazy though. But let's say this question was ask right after I learned that I lost my job. Now I see myself as a failure. Which would make me have a character trait of being negative. Same question after some positive news like I got the job! Now my answer will be happy, a feeling of accomplishment. My character trait is now positive on myself. We all have good and bad days. I believe that each day could pose a different answer to that very same question. I also believe my wife and kids could answer that question for me as well because they see the good and the bad of me every day. They would pretty much say my character traits are the same. A good friend may only see the good side or only see the bad side of me. A friend may have the wrong impression of me. My character trait, as seen through their eyes, would be different. An employer will see me in a different light. My parents would see my traits differently. Who really has the right...

...I have always been sure of myself. Since I was a young child my parents instilled in my brother and I that we always are sure of whom we are and be confident in that as well. Knowing that I was taught to always be sure of myself, I developed a sense of confidence about my self. Something like an aura, when I would walk into a room. With that sense of pride there also came a sense of entitlement. I felt as though I was very special and that I should be praised for the things I did growing up because I was so original and so unique. I remember in pre-school I got an award at our graduation for being the bossiest person in the classroom. Some people would have been offended by that, however, I was so proud that I got that award. Even today, when someone says I’m bossy I should be offended but often times I’m not because I have accepted the fact that it is who I am regardless if I like it or not. So after that introduction it should be no surprise that Narcissistic Personality Disorder was the highest rank personality disorder that I ranked for. Understanding that I narcissism is something that could easily be seen in me it is almost a most that I keep myself in check, meaning I maintain my humility while in therapy. Not to think too highly of myself and ensure that I will continue to have empathy and sympathy towards to clients that I will see in therapy. However there are some pros and cons to having a tad bit NPD. I could easily become a role model because I think high of myself...

...Running Head: Revealing Myself 1 Revealing Myself Rachelle C. Porter COM321: Communication Theory Ashford University Revealing Myself 2 Learning about oneself is never easy. Most of the time I find myself second-guessing if what I said was true or am I trying to convince myself that it is real. During this exercise, I wanted to be as open minded and fair about my choices as possible. Of course, it was easy for me to find the wonderful things about my friends and family as well as the not so wonderful things. Have you ever noticed how easy it is to pick out other peoples flaws, but think you are the absolute best? Well, that is not the case here. I have the hardest time finding what is so great about me, pointing out my flaws have become second nature. In the exercise, I chose majority family and one of my closest friends, mainly because I have known them for either all my life or over 10 years. I noticed in the exercise majority of the similarities as well as differences focused majority on good things. I saw little to no negative words about the individuals. It seems that I see the good in people before I would see the bad in them. I think with my current situation I am taught to hunt the good stuff in everything I do. What is effective communication? “Effective communication is transmitted content received and understood by someone in...

...ourselves and our peers to see how exactly conflict intertwines with our own lives and how we deal with it on a daily basis. This paper is being written to show exactly what styles we use towards other people and how that looks to them and how it makes them see us. You will also read about some of my own personal examples of how I have ran into conflict and how I try and use my skills to the best of my ability to change the way it affects others and myself directly. I will include some of the information that was assessed by some peers and also the assessments completed by myself to show what I think of myself and what others see me as. Conflict is a problem for many either it be at school or at work but with the knowledge gained by the class, book, and assessments it makes it easier to find yourself changing to what is right. Body Along with this paper I did an assessment on myself and gave two others a peer assessment. When filling it out on myself I knew exactly what kind of person that I was and I scored a 5.36 on the Solution-Orientation part which was higher than the No confrontation and Control styles. When adding up the scores from the two peer assessments, I found that not only did I see myself as Solution-Orientation but both did as well with scores that were 5.54 and 6. That tells me that I see myself the same as my peers do. I do not shy away from conflicts but try and fix them. I am the type of person that doesn’t like to see conflict and can do whatever it takes to...

...where do you see yourself on the Kolb Inventory of Learning Styles? Based on the descriptions in the text of the Kolb Inventory of Learning Styles I see myself as an active experimenter. I make decisions easily and enjoy solving problems. I enjoy applying what I have learned to see if I understood the material correctly and feel that I learn quickly. I am always ready to move quickly from thinking to action and get frustrated by those who take too much time acting on what they have been taught. This coincides with the realistic category I fall into with the Holland Personality and Career types as I see myself as a concrete and practical doer. I prefer situations that involve action rather than verbal or interpersonal tasks and take a concrete approach to problem solving rather than relying on abstract theory. 2. After reading about the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, determine which personality is most like you. On the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator I am an ESTJ: Extravert –I am outgoing, gregarious, and talkative and find myself too talkative at times or intimidating to those who are shy or introverted. Sensing- I am interested in the facts and see myself as practical, factual, realistic and down-to-earth. Thinking- I see myself as a logical, rational, and analytical person. I tend to decide things relatively impersonally and objectively and I am less swayed by feelings and emotions. In all of my dealings, I need and value fairness. Judging- I see myself approaching...

...Having a Job When I was a kid I remember seeing my parents working and bringing home money. I wanted to experience having a job myself and see how it was. After I had a taste of having a job and having responsibilities I saw how difficult it was. My experience is related to Plato’s, “Allegory of the Cave” because like the prisoner’s I too was blinded by the truth. When I was a kid I remember going out every Friday and eating out with my family. I do not remember a time when we did not do that. I believed it was really easy to go to work every day and make money. My dad was an executive general manager at a trucking company named JB Hunt. My dad often told me that to have a good job you must have a good college degree. I did not believe him, I believed that to have a job you just have to go look for one. Like the prisoners in the allegory of the cave, the shadows to me were seeing what I could and that was my parents bringing home money. I did not see how they did it or how difficult it was to have a job. When I finally turned sixteen I was old enough to have a job. I finally got to the point where I could experience it myself and determine how difficult it was to have a job. At the beginning it was a little hard but not as bad as I had expected and I always told myself, “see this is not that bad,” I could do anything I wanted without an education. After I graduated from high school, I got a job as a kayak assembler, making $14 dollars an hour. I thought to myself this is the life...

...Despite that, these types of people do differ from your everyday person. They possess specific characteristics that help influence how decisions are made, which is an enormous task in the process of starting up a business and eventually keeping it functional (Brouthers et al., 1998). So, what exactly are these traits that make entrepreneurs so much different than others? I, amongst many others, believe that there are definite attributes that entrepreneurs have that drive them to do what they do so well (or not so well). And as a typical American, I shall compare my most central psychological traits and compare it to those of an entrepreneur Entrepreneurs are motivated. They have some sort of drive that causes them to put so much time and effort in one of the hardest tasks to do today, starting a business. Entrepreneurs tend to have a need for achievement. This need for achievement, not only helps motivate and bring positive thoughts, but it can also have its negative factors. These could be frustration, which leads to mistakes, which could ultimately lead to unemployment (Shapero and Sokol 1982). Like entrepreneurs, I too have a need for achievement. For example, I always wanted to be the best when it came to school. If I received the highest grade in my class, then I felt successful, just as an entrepreneur would if they were able to get their business off of the ground. However, like the entrepreneur, I definitely had my push factors. If I tried too hard, for example stayed...

...to my scores, I am most comfortable with ‘modeling the way’ which I gave myself a score of 25 and it was my highest self-rating and observers rating. I believe this is the case because I always try to set the best example, one that is easily understood and to follow so that others can be successful as well. I set clear goals and plans in my initiatives and often implement plans to help me achieve those as well as regularly review my progress and success to see if there are noticeable improvements to be made. I have strong beliefs regarding leadership and make them known to others. From taking all of the Leadership classes with Wayne Hogue at LSUS, my belief that everyone should act with honesty, integrity, and ethics has only strengthened over the years. I know that I make mistakes, and that occasionally I make a wrong decision, but it is how you react and handle the situation that matters most and shows who really are. I am comfortable with ‘modeling the way’ largely because of my work ethics. I truly do love working and am okay with working more hours or working harder than others because it is one thing that I can control and be proud of. I believe that everyone has room for improvement and that by keeping an open mind, and by always continuing to learn that I can continue to become a better person and role model. Areas for Improvement According to the chart my lowest percentile score given by myself is ‘encouraging the heart’. With a self-score of 24, I fell roughly in...

...situation where you are in the future. In this small essay, I will be picturing myself in four different scenarios placed in different timelines in the future. First, I will picture myself in 2020, four years and two months from now, making a telephone call. The second hypothetical scene, I will picture myself in 2025 doing a homework assignment. The third scenario, I will place myself in 2050 eating a meal with my family. The forth scenario, I will picture myself almost 100 years from now in 2125 doing a homework assignment. With these scenarios I will use the technique, futuring, to image myself in the future and explain each setting. Now, what would happen if I, at the age I am now, was in the year 2020? What would happen if I were to make a phone call in 2020? Phones then have become foldable. You can place them in your pockets with very little cases with cracked phones from their convenient folding ability. Though, only five years from now, folding with some major phone upgrades are the only prevalent ideas with phones. The problem is that with these foldable phones, battery life has become a very heavy issue with foldable phones because the battery cannot exceed past the foldable dimensions of each phone. So what would happen in 2025, ten years from now in the future while doing homework? I honestly do not believe that in 10 years we will make a difference in homework productivity. The most I can see myself using a beta holographic keyboard typing into a Microsoft Word...

...process of how one perceives or reflects on the self-image and how we feel about ourselves in general. To learn about self-concept can be one of the hardest things. When we think about who we are as a person, we can begin to understand ourselves better and get a better view of our possible self. Have you ever looked into the mirror and asked the person before you that day old question “who am I” and really looking for the answer? Sometimes we may think we know who we are until you see yourself from a new perspective to answer that question “who am I?” Once we get the basic answer, we can begin to think about our possible self. Not only who am I? But who I want to become (Possible self). Self-Concept Self-Concept is how we see ourselves through our perception. Self-concept can be influenced by life experience, environmental influences, and through our genetic background. Self-concept can also be looked at from an attribution perspective on how we view ourselves. The “self-concept,” is the concept the individual has of him or herself as a physical, social, and spiritual or moral being (Gecas, Viktor. (1982). For example a person saw themselves as an artistic person then all their interest would be revolved creative things such as art, galleries, and would be very interested in conversations regarding art, and interest in learning art would be significant to them. How we see ourselves will determine where our attention is directed. Self-concept can also be defined as how we feel...

Being a part of a team taught me to represent and work hard for something bigger than myself. It also taught me to manage my time better. I’m a more responsible person because of it. How would your teachers describe you? They would describe me as punctual, reliable, and responsible, but not involved a lot during class in discussions. I don’t involve myself in discussions a lot because I try to listen to others views, before I speak on my own views. Why should I hire you over the other eight students waiting to be interviewed? I’m reliable and hardworking. I’m also willing to learn. I am the type of person to...

...everyone’s lives, there comes a point where their parents, or some adult-figure has told them that it is time they learn “to dress themselves”. I don’t recall exactly when this occurred in my life, but I would like to think it was sometime around late elementary school, so when I was around 11 years old. I am currently 19, so that means that I have been “dressing myself” for around 8 years. However, when taking a step back, it is possible that I never learned how to truly dress myself, and that all this time I have just thought I did. Cool argues that the majority of people go through life like this, with the illusion that they know how to dress themselves, when in reality, they don’t now the first thing about getting dressed. So, now that I am a soon to be sophomore in college I believe...
