The doll in Coraline resembles the temptation to leave because, in the beginning, the doll shows her to the door, then it watches her so the “other mother” can she what Coraline really wants, and finally the doll changes into mother and father.
In the beginning of Coraline, Coraline gets a doll that looks just like her it has the same hair color, wears that same style of close the only difference was the buttons. A couple minutes later she was going through a box and sets the doll down. Coraline looks up and notices the doll had disappeared, she looked for it. It was behind a box, that rested against the wall. When Coraline moved the box, to find a small door. This made Coraline think about going through that door to see what was behind it.
