How have Carson's view of nature influenced later environmental writers such as David suzuki (p.427) and Al Gore (454)? This question is on page 426 in Reading the world by Micheal Austin 2nd edition.
Carson, a well known scientist and an aquatic biologist and zoologist, was a strong supporter of environment preservation and was strictly against the impact of technology and industrialization on nature. There are various chemicals which are produced in the market to fight the insects and pests and these chemicals not only impact the insects that are targeted however they also put equal adverse impact on human beings and other animals and plants who are unintentionally harmed. Carson’s main motive was to create a revolution through spreading awareness related to the use of chemicals and addition of manmade toxic chemicals for various uses, which ultimately leads to an adverse impact on the environment. There were two other similar supporters of nature in the nineteenth century, David Suzuki and Albert Gore were the ones who were born in British Columbia and Washington respectively, this paper analysis the influence of Carson on their work and the results of the influence.
Like Carson, David Suzuki was also a very famous Zoologist in Canada and the fame that he had was due to the various T.V. shows that he had done in order to promote environment conservation. In his book the ‘Sacred Balance’, he has discussed various issues related to the maintenance of the eco-balance and there is an account of many more which were similar to the ones raised in Carson’s book ‘Silent Springs’. Also, we see that initially there was an abundance of criticism related to technology and declining biological balance in the initial works of David however gradually we can see that the discussions that he does, moves towards the zoology and animals that have been impacted through the rise of technology in the modern times. If, we look at the basic difference between Carson and David, it would only be the fact that Carson has shown more concern towards the harms that were a result of abundance of artificial chemicals and on the other hand David, showed the consequences of rising technology.

Unlike Carson and David, Al Gore did not have any close related to biological sciences and zoology however he still left his political journey to become an activist related to environment conservation. Gore’s initial works concentrated on the various climate changes that have taken place due to the technological aspects of impact on the environment like pollution and industrial wastes. ‘Earth in the balance’ and ‘Inconvenient Truth’, are his two works that were written by him in the early phase of his career and included a detailed discussion of the changing climate and technological impact of the climate. The discussions basically included information on CO2 emissions and green house gases, however gradually there were further extensions into the impact of the modern environmental evil practices on animals and wildlife which can easily be related to the works of Carson. The idea of chemical wastes producing uncounted harm to the wildlife can easily be understood to have been drawn from Carson’s works. The above discussion clearly specifies that both David Suzuki and Al Gore started with their own primary themes related to environment conservation; however at later stages a clear influence of Carson’s thoughts on zoological impacts is noticed.
