Motherly Leadership Leaders can have a direct bloodline effect on people in their lives, especially mothers. This leader in my life happens to be Laura Landreneau, my mother. My mother has been sculpted into a great leader that has also shaped the lives she has influenced. During her early years, she enlisted within the Army as a nurse stationed in Ft Sam Houston. From her first days at Basic Training, she showed her skills as a leader from leading formations to becoming her Basic Training Platoon Leader. After her years within the service, she moved onto regular practice of nursing and became a mother of three children down the road. She brings what she learned as a leader to the table of being a mother and she uses her motherly skills learned to amplify her skills as a leader. She was chosen for this paper because of how she incorporates her character within all aspects of her life, career, family, friends, and community.
Chapter 1 – The Nature and Importance of Leadership
Laura says that through her years as an experienced nurse you must be that leader to those who are new and less equipped as her self. “Experiences you share builds that rapport within the work place with both your co-workers above you and at that same level as you.” Decisions have to be made sometimes in very quick instances depending on the severity of the case. Sometimes these decisions can be life saving as a nurse. This applies to students that sometimes decisions may be hard to make even with little experience but making a decision is better than making no decision. Through her many years as a nurse she has found that she has had to uphold many roles within her profession: * Figurehead: Laura says, “Once you put on that uniform, whether it was my army uniform within the service or my scrubs to the office, you’re now categorized as an important

Leadership

...HRE 3723: Section A Leader Profile Paper The subject I interviewed as the leader of my profile paper is my aunt, Dawn Brown*. Mrs. Brown has displayed leadership qualities all of her life. From getting her degree in a very small field, to having a child with Asperger’s, and now to her current job. Currently, she is the Associate Professor of Theatre Design and Technology at a local college in Massachusetts. She has been teaching at the college for ten years. Along with being a Professor, she is a costume designer, production manager, and also the costume shop manager for the Theatre program on-campus. I felt that Mrs. Brown was a great example of a leader because she does the work load of four people, while teaching class, while also running and producing two shows a semester. She needs to have good relationships with the actors/actresses and also the production crew. I believe that she would make a superb case study for this project. Chapter 1 – The Nature and Importance of Leadership Mrs. Brown stated that leadership is a key element in theatre production. It provides stability and organization in order to make sure each of the areas is functioning in an efficient and productive way. In theatre production, it is essential that everyone involved understands their role and the leader is able to motivate and direct the people into achieving the goals set. She feels it is significant that you “manage” your piece of the puzzle in the organization role because you will...
