On August 2, 2013 I rolled my ankle over a cement opening surrounding a planter; at that time, I did not know the struggle I would face for the next few years. That day I ruptured a ligament in my ankle, but that was not diagnosed until four doctors and 18 months later. I started at an ordinary doctor where I was told I sprained my ankle and I was put into an ankle brace. I was, yet again, sent to another doctor. Each time I was sent to another specialist I kept getting more and more discouraged. I knew something was wrong, but I kept questioning why not even ankle specialists could tell me what was wrong. That all changed when I went to a new doctor in January, 2015. On my very first appointment, this new doctor, within 45 minutes, diagnosed me with a rupturing a ligament. Due to my injury not being treated properly, I damaged my other ligaments and I had a buildup of scar tissue in my foot. I had to have another surgery, in May, 2015, where I had to have all of my ligaments repaired and have scar tissue removed. I had to attend class, just a few days after my surgery, with my cast and crutches. This was a very difficult time in my life, I experienced a lot of negativity and doubt. Even people I knew for years were doubting my injury because I could not tell them what was

I would often have to withdraw from courses, or ended up failing courses to tend to the medical needs of either myself or my children. Being that I was taking courses in a traditions classroom setting, it was not easy for me to continue or pass a class without physically being in the classroom. Do to circumstances...
